Not much we can do about it even if it is a problem. Portal recruiting has been well underway for a while. We’re behind the 8 ball there. The “2025 Roster is Concerning” thread in the FF is beyond depressing. Heupel, Boyd, Plowman, & White have to know that last night needs to be a wake up call to improve and fast. If Heupel goes 8-4 or God forbid 7-5, it’s going to get ugly,
Holy $h!+The only things I will say about yesterday...............
#1. In 36 years of following Austin Peay basketball.........That was the worst f'ing performance I've seen
#2. That was the worst I've ever seen a "Good" UT team look in my lifetime.
Yesterday was a waste of time.
Kip Johnson as F definitely F'd us again. The Ohio State defenders made contact before the ball arrived all night long without one call. Finally, they called it once late: against "Mod" McCoy, who did what Ohio had done all night. Really DPI when merited was our best hope.2 years ago I meant
Exactly. We played a really damn good team. One of only 3 that I think has a chance to win it all alongside UGA and Oregon. And they probably beat those teams at the Shoe at night. The Michigan game gave us false hope. It's like the times Gus randomly beat Bama despite fielding an 8-4 team or whatever. Rivalry games are weird. Here’s a thought: maybe we don’t need to blow everything up trying to win yesterday’s game.
What are the odds we face that scenario ever again?
Elimination game on the road against a top 3 program who was coming off a bad loss, playing a home game with the world against them, two weeks to prepare, in 15 degree weather. Honestly I have a hard time imagining very many of the elite teams from recent years winning that game. Maybe 2019 LSU? But even then I’m not sure.
No, not since they started changing it to copy the NFL. For me, they turned it into more of a business than a sport. Here’s another thing I’m mulling: is college football really that interesting of a sport?
Lots of blowouts. Vast talent disparity still exists, favoring a small handful of programs. Clunky playoff that is killing the significance of rivalry games and has produced only a handful of memorable games. Most programs are doomed to unending irrelevance as the rich get richer. Meanwhile, programs like Tennessee can get close to the top, but may have a glass ceiling without the resources of Texas or the recurring footprint of Georgia.
Still love the Vols and I will still watch. But I have asked myself that a lot in recent years.
This might be true but the development is not working. Heupel better put his friendships aside and make changes. He needs better coaches across the board. There are only 3 coaches that should be kept and the rest needs to be gone. Heupel needs to better himself also. He has to figure out how to get his teams ready for games coming out of by weeks and when he has 2-3 weeks to prepare for a big game. His teams look uninterested and lazy and thats on him. I would feel better if Tn never had a by week. Can Heupel put his friendships aside and do what needs to be done or is he willing to let it get him fired sooner or later.Ofc they do.
But I'll say this - if we had them in Neyland at night it would've been a different story.
Even on a neutral field, I think it would've been competitive.
After that 1st drive face mask, the momentum was overwhelming. From Q2-Q4 it was a 17-21 game. That Q1 momentum just put us in such a big hole.
Our class talent is improving. Will take time to see the field, but it's coming up across the board.
Honestly.............I've been saying that the last several weeks, but I really don't think so now.I think Callahan should get a pass. Not impressed at all with Ran.
