Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Well, this pisses me off. #16 is a joke, paying 1/2 of what the top 4 teams are is a joke, getting outspent by Virginia and Indiana is an absolute joke.

I thought we were trying to run with the big dogs, but we sure ain’t ponying up like the big dogs.

With all the money we’ve saved on hiring offensive staff, thought we would’ve had a lot more to throw around to players.
The overwhelming majority of Virginia's money is a donation from Serena Williams' husband (cofounder of Reddit) to the women's basketball program. They also probably have a lot of that earmarked for baseball.

That list is not telling the full story for each school. You cannot assume its 100% football.

I asked this question in another thread… does anyone here have any insight… I have not read all the threads so don’t know if this was addressed, but can someone tell me why OSU was allowed to have field level lighted signs along the sidelines they used like strobe lights while Nico was looking to sideline for the play calls - and they went totally dark while OSU offense was on the field. It seemed the same as shining a laser pointer at a pitcher.

Agreed. I'm just saying as a comparison for a move from rb to wr... There's a precedent.
Might have something to do with the brace on his shoulder. When you see that, it means labrum/instability. Brace is designed to keep arm from going fully up and out (vulnerable position for dislocation). The fact that he was still wearing it after his offseason surgery suggests he ain’t playing WR, at least not for UT. It’s nearly impossible to reach up and catch a ball over your head in one. When was the last skill player other than RB that you saw in a shoulder harness??

I don’t think those numbers are accurate, but if they are then it’s explained by NIL being diverted to keep baseball and basketball on top.

All of the best football schools spend all of their money on football. We have to split resources.

I’m not knocking it, I want baseball to stay elite. But that’s probably the explanation.

If this is the NCAA "study" that's already been discredited.

Yeah. The guy who is recycling it on video predicted a Vols upset the day before and when that didn’t pan out, he grabbed for anything he could find to blame and feel angry at, it looks like. Old and discredited.

Here’s a thought: maybe we don’t need to blow everything up trying to win yesterday’s game.

What are the odds we face that scenario ever again?

Elimination game on the road against a top 3 program who was coming off a bad loss, playing a home game with the world against them, two weeks to prepare, in 15 degree weather. Honestly I have a hard time imagining very many of the elite teams from recent years winning that game. Maybe 2019 LSU? But even then I’m not sure.
Probably a 99% chance that’s what we draw next year if we make the playoffs

I keep seeing OSU fans online going on and on about how great the atmosphere was and how loud their crowd was last night. They’re also openly denying the obvious fact that there was 30k+ Vols fans there. Between this and the stuff I witnessed last night, they are by far the most delusional fan base I have ever encountered. Serial killer levels of detachment from reality. We need to cherish the bama fans and UGA fans of the world. I know I will from now on.
We were louder than them.

If you have the game recorded, at the beginning of the game when we were on defense, you could tell on the tv.
