Recruiting Football Talk VIII

This isn’t some revelation. Georgia has our number because they don’t have to load the box to stop our run game. OSU had five in the box daring us to run the ball last night and we couldn’t due to lack of push at the point of attack. This is always going to be the issue with this offense and why I have been hard on the OL all year. If you can’t run the ball your offense sucks. Develop your guys and stop portal shopping rejects who are not good enough to get to the NFL.

We didn’t try to commit to the run game against OSU. Sure part of that was because we got down by a lot so early and D Samp not playing, but I do wonder if we stop the bleeding if we just stay patient and run the ball. P Lewis looked like he was getting 4-5 yards a rush

Thank goodness for Vitello. I think Caldwell has championship potential too due to her ability to immediately sign a top 3 class in her first full signing class. Similar to Vitello. Elite recruiters. No coincidence that championships will follow.
Tony was at this spot after that team lost to ND in the Supers. He's been on a tear ever since.
Hopefully what happened Saturday gives Heupel the same hunger.

Did anyone notice how small our players looked vs Ohio State? That is elite talent. When we played NC State this year, we looked huge. We have to crack the top 5 in recruiting every year to compete or at least every other year but absolutely have to stay in the top 10 every year.

Eat my shorts Kirk🙄

I mean is he wrong? I didn’t take that as a shot towards us. TN was absolutely deserving of being the top 12. Did we live up to it in this one game? Absolutely not. But the whole product definitely did. Indiana, however, did not show anything that made them worthy of a spot. So I took this more as a shot towards them than us.

Watching the ESPN highlights of the game, have to give Herbstreit credit. He’s an osu alum but he stayed impartial and objective the entire game. Fowler on the other hand, he was obviously pulling for osu and sounded more like the osu alum
I’ve always felt Herbstreit calls games with impartiality compared to others on ESPN’s payroll (I’m looking at you, Greg! I can’t stand when that Bammer is calling our games).

Question I have, I keep seeing some of ya pining for Zachariah Branch...my question is why?

Same size as Squirrel, far less production in his 2 years at USC though.
Same logic as the back up quarterback is always better. Also, there is a coaching guru tree at Walmart where there are super coaches on the shelf. Just pick up what you want and go win. It’s easy 🤷‍♂️. This notion that major college football is hard and ultra competitive is ridiculous. It’s basically give me what I want or I’m going to pitch a fit. We qualified for the freaking playoffs and you would think we were Kentucky and went 4-8. Mean while our reasonable, grown up posters are disappearing at a record pace. The narrative on us is we are soft and really don’t want to compete for championships. Old man screaming at wind.

Recruiting rankings don’t matter, remember?

Absolutely agree with you. It has to be top 10 every single year and some top 5s.

I asked this question in another thread… does anyone here have any insight… I have not read all the threads so don’t know if this was addressed, but can someone tell me why OSU was allowed to have field level lighted signs along the sidelines they used like strobe lights while Nico was looking to sideline for the play calls - and they went totally dark while OSU offense was on the field. It seemed the same as shining a laser pointer at a pitcher.
I asked that same question. Total bush league. The lights weren't even in the conversation of why we were routed but that is a garbage way to exploit home field advantage. The same thing could be said about the terrible euro techno crap that they would play almost to the moment that we snapped the ball.

After the last 20 years of Tennessee football, do you really find it so unbelievable?
I do. There is no way a program like Virginia spends more money than us on football. I thought I saw Kentucky high on a list too. UK would spend for basketball but not football.

Spyre has been at the top of almost every list out there. Do you not trust the $8 million report about Nico? We were the first to really get that out about a QB. We may not be at the top, but we spend money, and I don’t know why it’s even being debated.
