Of course football pays the bills and the NIL allotment is proportional to therevenue between the two sports. My only contention is that baseball hasn’t felt nearly as much of a “Wild West” in the portal, probably because the gross dollars being offered aren’t as much, as we’ve both stated. And for a long, long time kids were literally paying their way for the love of the game prior to the scholarship additions last year for baseball. To me baseball is the purest sport left, where many kids are still playing because they love the game. I think we are so elite in the portal because of Tony V, player development and hardware, with some supplement of a competitive NIL.

Yeah. But year before last the talk of baseball was that LSU bought the CWS title. Fewer Chicken Littles causing uproar in baseball posts. Thank goodness. Mostly, winning cures everything. If we had lost to Wake, idiots would have had a field day.

Sampson is my favorite rb that I’ve watched at ut. He is truly one of the best rb’s in school history and I hope he becomes a hall of famer. Easily top 3 rb in school history behind Travis Henry and maybe Travis Stephens

This is what you’d like to see with much of the portal talent chasing easy money and buying into the “grass is greener” argument. Stay put, work hard, and good things will happen in most cases.

Regardless of how payment happens, it's really about the lax transfer rules.

Should have been playing both ways from the start and as the season went along and seeing the lack of playmakers makes it more obvious. He could not been any worse than what was out there

I wasn't in any way trying to detract from the BaseVols, the greatest coach and team in the sport, or any of your insights. I just instinctively react to anything that tends toward or even could be interpreted as pitting one of our teams against another. LVs are the worst about it, imo. I understand that was not your intention. Just my pet peeve going on. I know you love all the Vols teams like I do.
