Recruiting Football Talk VIII

He got fired because he was the fall guy for what had become a laughing stock of the sports world for upwards of 2-3 weeks. That search needs its own 30 for 30.
He wasn’t the greatest but I think the bigger issue was the leadership above him was horrible. Look who they replaced him with and then who his replacement hired. No AD would have been effective working under that administration. Thank the lord for Randy and Donde. Danny is great but it starts at the top allowing him to be great.

Why would MM fall for the Spyre disinformation, he's already dealt with them for a year? Missed any checks??

Precisely what I was thinking.
And the thing about that he thought Nico was leaving made 0 sense, at least in the way it was explained.
Unless these kids just don't communicate at all.

And UGA and Michigan won 3 NCs with hardly any use of the portal.
Georgia and Michigan are two of the highest NIL payroll rosters in college football. Both in the top five. Nobody's winning **** without a good NIL.

Like I said. NIL and the portal put Tennessee in the playoffs. If you have a problem with it, that's a you problem.

Congratulations!
I have been a lump of coal for a year. Kinda overwhelmed by work and family issues. Unusual for me but it manifested as just not wanting to do anything. Work, come home and sit on the couch until bedtime. So in addition to being a slug, I also started eating more. I hit 235 from 208 with none of the new weight being good.
Thank goodness for snow skiing as a motivation. I get to go skiing 3 times this year. I did in 2024 as well, but I just went without my normal workout for skiing. I would ski 1/2 day and be done. (Prior years I start when the lifts open and ski until the lifts close). Didn’t enjoy it but didn’t feel like making a change.

Well, I have been working out for a month and I have not felt this good in over a year. Feeling overwhelmed sucks and it just sucks the life out of you. My cadio favorite is rowing. An hour of rowing burns 700-800 calories depending on the resistance setting. I have a spring in my step, none of the insurmountable problems seem as bad.

We go skiing 1/6-1/10 and I can’t wait!

It’s amazing to me how much of a difference a little bit of exercise can make (relatively).
Sometimes the hardest part is getting started and then staying committed for that first week or two. Once the energy level changes, then it gets easier.

I have used Fitbit activity trackers for years, but they are relatively fragile. My latest one bit the dust and I decided to change. I asked for a Whoop fitness tracker for my birthday. I really like the Whoop as it not only helps track calories, steps, and sleep, but it monitors your recovery as well. It suggests more rest or more exercise depending upon your body recovery status. It can help you find the sweet spot for training. It can help prevent overtraining too.

I’m not focused on a weight goal as much as a lower body fat percentage. I will add weight training to my regimen once I finish this first ski trip.

It’s a great day to be alive!
It’s always a great day when you are a Tennessee Volunteer. I forgot that for a while.

🤠
You got this!

My Samsung watch is durable and has been crucial in helping me stay focus. I'd recommend it if you have Android.

Cardio machine big board:
1. Rower
2. Bike
3. Elliptical
4. Treadmill
5. Being kicked in the nuts
28373563. Stairmaster

Getting started is definitely tough but once you put that time in pen on the calendar, it's easier. Gotta have it on a schedule. Otherwise you'll lounge out of the time you have. I've done it.

Keep at it and remember how much better you feel when your second guessing it.

I don’t think Nick is right for the job until they get the employee/union/collective bargaining part out of the way (or get an antitrust exemption). As it stands, he’ll just be constantly butting heads with the courts like Charlie Baker.

My vote is still for Charles Davis.

Sounds like he is looking for any reason to not come back.

Not sure how we got here, but, still feel the root of this is on Kelsey Pope and staff.
Maybe a team that hasn’t had him for a year in practice thinks he’s worth more money than we do. Happens every year in the NFL. My uneducated guess is he thinks he’s worth more money than we do or a competing team does. You simply have to draw the line at some point because what you pay him affects what you can pay others. Simple economics.

See my previous posts.

All this about Spyre, coaches, playing time. Just red herrings. Let's just call it what it is.

Distractions and excuses to do whatever kid wants to do in first place.

Agreed. I like my Garmin as well. Good pointers @RikidyBones and great work @VolsDoc81TX

What does the Samsung watch do, other than tell you calories burned? Pretend i'm a 5 year old🤪

Agreed. In the end it’s all about getting the most money. All the other stuff is BS. Some players are smart enough to understand the long game but those are few and far between. That also would require some parents that actually taught and mentored their kids that there is more to life than biggest bag wins. Not too many 18-22 year olds would have that wisdom yet. Nor did I.

Fleetwood Mac has to be tops.

But Genesis and Floyd also come to mind.

Funny thing to me is Syd is the one that really ingrained the beautiful, genius madness into Floyd. The rest ran with it (extremely well).
Floyd: And much of their greatest material was in response to losing Syd.

Other bands that improved (their sound) by replacing their singer:

AC/DC
Van Hagar
Savatage
Motley Cru
Rage Against the Machine (AudioSlave) (They were great, great, great. But musically, Cornell was at the top of the game.)

My Garmin watch is incredible. I get close to 30 days on a charge. It can do all the fitness stuff, tracks my sleep, O2 levels, etc. It also controls the stereo on my boat, can control the auto pilot, and mirror the displays on my boat.

Maybe I do over analyze. My takeaway from the MM VQ Pod was he is quiet, and close to family, sophisticated, mature young man. Has right priorities in mind. Iow, he aint dumb.

Has anyone heard that podcast? Ive linked int several times. No one has commented.

In the podcast, Mike Matthews. Not a handler, agent, Tony Clownsillyo, or anyone else. Mike Matthews answers question 'what do you want to do when you get older?'

Wants to start his own autonomous business, that makes money while he kicks back. Investments.

Anyone? Corollary? Connection?

So tell me again how this about Spyre, Pope, or anything else.
