Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Idk how I feel about this.

This is important for the lesser teams in the B1G and SEC that finish at or under .500 regularly, and every other CFB team NOT in those conferences.

Especially the service academies.

Guys that get cycled out of the top of the B1G and SEC will move down to G5 for their 4th/5th seasons.

Big equalizer for everyone that is not a Top 40 program.

Also, for Tennessee specifically, I feel this is big for baseball and basketball.

Lol this

You know...I completely forgot Jaxson Dart is in the draft this year. I think he's going to be a name that "climbs" draft boards once the combine and everything hit.

3 years in the SEC as a starting QB, played 13 games every season, at least 20 TDs each year and he ran for over 1500 yards in his career while adding 14 TDs. Was a top 15 QB outta HS too.

6'2" 220lbs and watching the highlights it's pretty clear he has some arm talent

Won't surprise me at all if he ends up as one of the first 5 QBs taken.
His problem is that he tries to hero ball it too much. He might have some Levis issues in the NFL, in terms of not knowing when to throw it away or give up.

He also lowers his shoulder vs SEC LB and DBs too much. Granted, he somehow survived a career of this, but even still, not a great idea.

When he got to Ole Miss, I thought Kiffin could polish his raw talent into a 1st Round pick, possibly Top 10. I don't think he's reached his potential, or maybe his ceiling was never that high to begin with.

He is definitely a gunslinger and fun to watch. He reminds me a lot of Levis with better coaching.
didn't see your Levis comp before my post, but I agree that they have a similar mindset. I think Dart will run into similar issues in the league if he is drafted to be THE guy. If he is drafted as a backup and gets 2-3 years to come along, he could be great.

I feel like our offense will thrive more with the RB build types at WR.

Hyatt 6'0" 180lbs
Velus 6'0" 200lbs
Payton 6'1" 180lbs

Good to have 1 or 2 6'3" big bodies that can high point, but if that's making up 3 of the 4 starters it's tough.

Boo is 5'11" 195lbs
Staley 6'0" 190lbs
Matthews 6'1" 200lbs

Jefferson 6'0" 200lbs

Smith Jr. is a big body 6'3" 200lbs
Jackson a bit of both 6'2" 200lbs
And you return Brazzell as a big body 6'5" 200lbs

I like this WR room, on paper a bit more than what we replace. Love Squirrel but 5'10" 165lbs as an every down starter is a hard ask in the SEC imo. We never really got to use him on the outside much and take advantage of his speed either.

Mike is one of us. More dynamic in 2025!

Well he must not read Volnation , or he like all of us would know from the sunshine pumpers on here that Heupel has resurrected us from a Dumpster fire and put us in the playoffs and to suggest we need to make adjustments in the passing game is sacrilege!

drooling to learn more about how we will change offensively

it must have been a helluva proposal to get Nico to calm down and change the tune in the WR room

I think Heup said "Joey is only OC in title, I'm taking the reigns over and Landry is gonna be working on scouting to help us out"

Love Joey, but clearly not doing something right in OC duties... and it's not all about game day play calling. Chip Kelly is showing this CFP that prep is the most important part, in both games he's had that offense looking unstoppable to open the games against great defenses too. But the time things are adjusted the hole is already too deep because Ohio State's defense is also great so good luck coming back from 21+ down.

We all want to see an offense that looks like 2022 again.
Agree. It’s also really cool that Heupel can look at his locker room with a freshman QB and a meh WR room, say “I think we’re better in a battle than a shootout” and run that to a CFP appearance.

Heck of a coaching job.

I am actually really excited to see what our identity is in 2025. I think it will be explosive.
