Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Don't sleep on Florida. If they keep improving, they will be tough next year with the freshman QB getting more experience and that freshman RB Baugh I think his name was is going to be good and their defense really came on at end of year. Especially if they get any kind of play from all their 4 and 5 star WR. They will be young again but extremely talented.
We can't beat anyone worth a dang on the road and haven't beaten FL or AL on the road since 2003. Ain't no Tennessee Volunteer, fan, coach or player be sleeping on them. We have demons to exorcise next year.

Florida is definitely a dark horse sleeper in my opinion as well

Women are sometimes great at gathering data, organizing, and multi-tasking. I bet there are women perhaps including her that can make a valuable contribution to a coaching staff...whether editing film into videos, organizing and presenting info, even helping maybe to set up drills and stuff in a support role. There is no way a woman...having never blocked, tackled, covered, run a route, run or caught a TD etc at the FBS level can coach young men to do so as well as a coach who has actually played the game. It just isnt possible. Watching something is not the same as actually doing it...and while knowledge can be gained in many ways, wisdom only comes from experience. Experience matters at literally everything. Thats why you never want to be someones 1st at anything that matters...like 1st heart surgery a guy has performed, 1st engine a mechanic has rebuilt, 1st person a lawyer has defended etc. You want experienced people who have done things many times and know it inside and out. Thats both human nature and basic logic. This is also why players will NEVER respect a band geek Butch Jones like they will National Champ QB Josh Heupel. They can identify with and respect CJH because he has been in their shoes. He has felt the stress and pressure of playing football in front of 100,000 fans. He has both won and lost big games as a player, and played hurt. He has been an elite athlete and lived in a fish bowl at 20 years old. Women have never done any of those things on a field or in a football program. They don't know what a "stinger" or concussion feels like.

I have a Mom, 3 sisters, a wife and daughter who I adore. I am as pro-women as I can reasonably be. There is no way a woman is as good a college football coach as a man who has played his whole life by the time he is an adult and old enough to even become a GA. I think its silly to pretend otherwise. Doesnt mean there isnt a place for young ladies like above to contribute though. I hope she thrives in her role and finds happiness.
Just not true. If there are guys scouting and coaching in the nfl who have never played a down, a woman could do the same. Maybe her parent was a football geek. Maybe a coaches daughter. Maybe had all brothers who played or loved to watch. Maybe she’s just very teachable and inclined to learn. We can argue it all day long but that’s an absolute statement about a very “broad” *haha* population that just can’t be true without having a bias against women being in the sport.

If you want to argue because football is a big “locker room” type sport than ok but that’s less about women being able to coach and more about men not being able to accept a female coach, which I have no doubt is true at this time.

I do find it a tad funny that the young lady appeared to be trying to speak with a lower voice. Maybe her voice is low, or she’s a “bro” type, or stoned (she does go to Oregon).

Didn’t say it wasn’t valid. Just giving my opinion

I know and i respect it…you’re one of my favorite conservative posters on here who calls a spade exactly what it is…I’ve seen your post over many years to know you have some people in certain places that know things.so if you say that’s what it is then I have to believe you..I’m just considering both sides friend.

Chip Kelly, who never played college football, sure has out coached a lot of other coaches. He did a number on us.

Since 2013 when FSU won the National Championship, every winner since then other than 3 teams have had a QB, RB, and WR/TE with 1000+ yards.

There’s a couple of teams on the list that had a WR go for 900+ yards, I just rounded them up to 1000 so the list isn’t 100% accurate.

2024 Candidates:
OSU: Howard, Judkins (900), Henderson (900), Smith (1000)

PSU: Allar, Allen (1000), Warren (1000)

Texas: Ewers, Wisner, Golden (900)

2023: Michigan didn’t have a WR eclipse 1000

2022: UGA didn’t have a RB or WR eclipse 1000

2021: Once again UGA is gay

2020: Jones, Harris, Smith

2019: Burrow, Edwards, Chase and Jefferson

2018: Trevor, Etienne, Ross

2017: Hurts, Harris, Ridley

2016: Watson, Gallman, Williams

2015: Coker, Henry, Ridley

2014: Barrett, Elliott, Smith

2013: Winston, Freeman, Benjamin and Greene

Our 2022, 2023, and 2024 teams were very close.

2022: Hooker, Hyatt, Small (700), Wright (800)
2023: Milton, Wright, Squirrell (800)
2024: Nico, Sampson, Thornton (650)

Free market capitalism. We should all be so lucky.

When the providers of the money decide to starting using business acumen on the overall product and individual service provided versus using fan emotions, they will adjust the amount they are willing to spend. The going rate will be informally established.

Until union/collective bargaining happens.
