Recruiting Football Talk VIII

It's also comical that @jave36 states, "Defense is why we made the playoffs", yet he doesn't give Heupel any credit for that. The head coach has responsibility for the entire team.
Where did I say anything about Heupel doesn't get credit for the defense? He absolutely gets credit for it. Just like he gets the blame for the bad offense. You can't see how both can be true?

I'm not praising it. I'm saying he made the best of a situation that didn't work as well as he hoped. By most indications, he did everything right. Top QB, solid WR room, 5* OT. In the end it didn't work as well as expected. His fault? Maybe, maybe not. His responsibility? Absolutely, and it appears he is acting on that.

But unlike you, I'm not gonna go full hubris and act like I have a real clue how to do better than he did.
Where did I say I know how to do it better than he did? Why are so many people on here like you and @Vol423 who take criticism against CJH as "he's a terrible coach, he gets no credit for anything positive, and I could do it way better."

Is it just easier to argue against something ridiculous like that instead of actually arguing against what I said?

Other than it's the Vols the NIL thing is making getting excited about college football tougher. It appears from now on or until sometime in the future when new rules are in place and repeatedly broken by some, we as fans have no real idea who will be on the team for more than six or eight months at a time. Basically it becomes possible to have half your roster turn over with no idea who plans on staying or going the next cycle and or if the ones you have are actually worth the investment. I guess the best thing to do set back buy who we can and hope for the best.

Pats fans are gonna hate Joe for costing them the first pick.
I'm waiting for the Pats to bench Milton at halftime and roll a backup RB out there at QB in the second half. Milton is 12/13 at halftime, and his one incompletion was a play in which he spun out of a backside would-be sack from the defensive end, rolled out to the left and then intentionally threw the ball out of bounds when he couldn't find an open receiver.

Don't recognize the guy. Shows what good coaching can do? Raises more questions with me about our staff.

Well we had similar OL and WR play as this season so kinda tough to judge his true talent (same as Nico now).

Everybody just blames Joe for everything when he was here. Last year when WRs dropped passes it was bc Joe threw the ball too hard. This year it’s bc the WRs suck 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Also this one outing doesn’t mean he’s awesome. Please see Will Levis first outing.

Pretty sure our WRs make reads as well. Maybe they aren't smart enough to do that yet? Some guys just need a lot of repetition to pick things up. Remember a 5 star LB that was a class jewel but he reportedly couldn't grasp the defense at all. Never did a thing at UT. Can't recall the name, but I'm sure someone will know who I'm thinking of.
JJ Peterson?

More likely the letdown is against UF. Our guys know about Barnes and Texas. They'll be up for that one. Might not win but it won't be due to a let down.
A UF loss wouldn't be bc of a letdown imo. UF is top notch and it's a road game. These SEC road games are going to be pure hell, as Arky, UF, OU, Mizzou saw yesterday.

I would't even be surprised if we're a small underdog or EVEN.

I’m only 28 but my dad raised me on what he grew up listening to. Don’t think I heard a song from my generation until I was in high school. It worked, though. All I listen to came out between 1975-1995
I've got about 750 songs on Itunes thanks to my CD collection. I listen to nothing but the music I grew up with. I may have 1 or 2 songs past the 80'.
60's and 70's music for me

Affects what they could get in a trade. There’s no clearcut #1 pick in this draft…so it’s minimal. Might be advantageous not having the top pick…options wise. They have a lot of needs and I don’t know how much compensation they’d get for Travis Hunter.

ST has been solid under Ekeler for sure but after watching ND’s ST and looking into it more, I wish we incorporated more creativity. Just a wish. I’m a big fan of Ekeler.
The way Jackson Ross was hyped up for throwing or running on a fake I thought we’d at least run one fake the past couple of years but I don’t think we’ve run one so far with him right?

Oddly enough I don’t think the Patriots care to have the #1 pick, so they are probably fine seeing what Joe & backups can do. Never know who will see the performance and come calling with a trade.

Titans in a different spot, no franchise QB and a Head Coach likely wanting to draft one.
That would be odd, why do you say that?

If anything, the spot holds a ton of trade value. Not saying they'd stoop to tanking, but it'd be crazy to not want the spot.
