Recruiting Football Talk VIII

He lead our best unit in 2024 and largely was the catalyst for our making a playoff. It is better than meh.
Agreed though can't say I'm thrilled with our gameplan on the D side for Georgia and Ohio State. Then again, those teams expose weaknesses of a lot of teams.

And you assume I live a miserable life because??????
Because he reads the crap you post. Volnation is like a golf course in Poland. A beautiful coarse and a pleasure to play but unfortunately is built over an old minefield. You're enjoying a great round on a beautiful day (reading Volnation) and then you step on a mine (Cheggerboards posts something) and it blows your leg off.

How do we lose something we never had?

It would be one thing if we led for them or they were committed at some point, but that isn’t the case. They were just guys we were interested in.
Good point. I haven't followed the recruitment fully though I do believe we were in a strong position, based on reports, for the LSU recruit. And, we've not impressed thus far in the portal. Reason for that could be many and varied. I trust Heupel to manage it all.

Improved every season and his side of the ball just carried us to the playoff.

There’s no pleasing some.

Its been steady, linear improvement too...if you graphed our national rankings in the important categories it would be a diagonal line headed up almost to the top right corner at 6th...a blind man could see that we have clearly improved every single year as talent and depth improved. Reminds me of George Carlin "Imagine how stupid the average person is. Then realize that half of them are even dumber than THAT. " Living. Proof.

Jealous you'll never be coldest white boy on the block?

You could tell immediately every time he made a HUGE pick (like Bama, NCSU) how much the team loved "Willy B" and respect him. They went absolutely crazy celebrating and running up to congratulate him. No, he doesn't have elite speed. He has elite instincts though and doesnt take "false steps" which makes him quick enough to be where he needs to be, and make plays. He beat out 3* and 4* scholarship players for every single snap he ever played at UT...as a walk-on. Everyone noticed his big INTs, but Brooks made a bunch of open field tackles in the run AND passing game this season that were TDs if he didnt get them to the ground by himself. Brooks was a big asset to this 24 team and deserves to be remembered as such IMO. People are quick to jump on him bc of the UGA and OSU games...but All SEC McCoy got benched for a series vs UGA and torched in both games and nobody says a word. It happens. To everyone. They both deserve respect and graditude IMO.

Not sure why people are bitching about Banks when they could be using that energy to bitch about Elarbee and Pope.
Sure seems to be quite a bit of pissing and moaning on this here site lately.

Go buy a new fishing rod, get ready for those crappies to start biting good in March. Enjoy life instead of screaming at the clouds...

My 15yo was showing me some random social media post and because I'm the kind of putz I am, I commented on the frequency of "whoa" being misspelled as "woah".

She wasn't having it. I showed her "whoa" in the dictionary and the lack therein of "woah". She said, "I don't care. Look," and proceeded to show me example after example of online woahs, as if that settled the issue.

That's when I realized she was right, for all practical purposes. In her world accuracy and correctness are negligible crowdsourced assumptions that take precedence over stale old boomer dogmatism. And English being the living language it is, a decade from now "woah" will be shown in the dictionary as an alternate spelling of "whoa".

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
...but it will still be wrong.
