Yeah, he's a Dabo, but less goofy and a little more angry/chip-on-the-shoulder type. I guess not mismanaging what he's in control of is a feat in and of itself. Seems plenty of coaches can't even do that. But I can't picture him building a program from the ground up.He's a good manager in that he picked his OC/DC. Cannot be trusted to navigate an occupied golf cart though.
Great perspective to take, as I didn’t really consider that. My one worry with Heupel is does he fall in the category of program builder but not manager, or can he do both? He’s done an incredible job and I’m a “do whatever it takes to keep him” guy. But that being said, one of the crucial facts that separates the two is being able to get rid of the waste, regardless of ties the coach may have with his assistants. So far that’s been the one negative I have on Heupel.Yeah, he's a Dabo, but less goofy and a little more angry/chip-on-the-shoulder type. And honestly, that's an interesting comparison. Because I think there are coaches who are good at that but not managing it well once it's built, and vice versa. Only a small number of them can build and successfully manage what they've created for years and years.
Now that we can put our first round playoff game in the proper context, I'm struggling to find 10 other teams that I believe are going to be hands down more talented, experienced and accomplished than what we put on the field. That doesn't mean I don't think we have work to do to get where OSU is today, but regardless of what we need from coaches or players to clear the last hurdle, who is in a clearly better situation?I mean what do you see that makes us a Top 10 team aside from a stellar QB who honestly still has his issues?
please do not let Nick Saban get anywhere near making decisions about college football
You’re one of them aren’t you…I mean, I dont like it, but I get it. We’re losing our top rusher, 4/5 starters from an already meh OL, losing our -statistically- top wr’s, all-sec cb tore his acl, losing our best players on the DL…we have a lot of ?’s for next year
He has great players and a good coaching staff. That's like 95% of college coaching. He probably isn't some Xs and Os savant, but he doesn't need to be. The vast majority of college head coaches are not.I'm still not convinced that Ryan Day is actually a good coach.
Exactly lol. They salted some roads and bridges yesterday but have issued plenty of warnings telling nobody to drive until Thursday and that bridges will shut down if it snows bad. Also been telling people the power could go out and to be prepared for thatJust left there Sunday. They were equally thrilled and horrified haha.
