Do the winners of conference title games in basketball always go the furthest in March Madness?

No, but they don't get a bye either. And how many preseason picks do you see where they pick one team to win the conference but another team in that conference to be in the national title game? I don't think I've ever seen that.

That's an extremely specific pick to say Oregon will lose in the conference title game but run the table in the playoff despite not getting a bye.

I mean there's something to be said for a few bowl practices against an entire Spring and Fall camp. But yeah. If you factor that bowl game in at all, there is no way you make FSU a top 10 team.
