Funny thing is, this is VERY plausible. There is a solid chance that CRB will retire after this season, given his comments about ZZ and his age. Not to mention that DW and Oats have the connection from Buffalo.

I wouldnt be against it either, everyone know’s barnes time is about up, and I think that’s effecting recruiting as well. Bama has been recruiting well in basketball ever since Oats arrived, and Oats would make sense for us to look atI wouldn’t be against this move. But I also think claiming a well connected source is like saying a well connected source told me there’s a chance of rain tomorrow. It’s pretty much common sense DW would look at Oats given he’s a hot commodity with what he’s done at Bama and their connection. However, based on DW’s track record of hiring up and comers, I also don’t think he goes after Oats that hard unless there’s real interest from the Oats camp.
For sure, I think it’s a realistic possibility we look at oats when Barnes retiresI could definitely see it. Barnes has been coaching what 40 years? And like you the comments he made about ZZ, I could easily see Barnes giving it up after this year.
Oates has ties to DW. I would love to have Oates. The great thing is when Barnes does leave, he will leave the program in fantastic shape. We are now an elite college basketball job.
LOL. Here are all the advanced stats cited by basketball-reference.com (the leading basketball stats website):
AD - 27.4 PER, 61.0 TS%, 6.7 offensive win shares, 4.4 defensive win shares, 11.1 win shares, .250 win shares per 48 mins, 5.4 offensive box score plus/minus, 2.6 defensive box score plus/minus, 8.0 box score plus/minus, 5.4 Value Over Replacement

LeBron - 25.5 PER, 57.7 TS%, 6.2 offensive win shares, 3.6 defensive win shares, 9.8 win shares, .204 win shares per 48 mins, 6.6 offensive box score plus/minus, 1.8 defensive box score plus/minus, 8.4 box score plus/minus, 6.1 Value Over Replacement
Anthony Davis leads him in every advanced stat outside of offensive box score plus/minus, box score plus/minus, and value over replacement. That's a 7 to 3 advantage for AD. And the only reason LeBron leads in those 3 categories is because of his higher usage rate. For the season LeBron had a usage rate of 31.5% to AD's 29.3%. It's why in the advanced stats that take usage rate like PER, AD leads LeBron.
No matter how you slice it Anthony Davis was the best player on the 2019-20 Lakers according to the TOTALITY of the advanced stats.
Stats do matter in context they’re not the end all be all. BR is the worst website to use for advanced stats. Their formula is simply based off the box score. I mean you really think Jokic has been a better defensive player than AD for the last 5 years? Cuz they doI'm not doing it for my benefit. It's called using your opponent's own argument against them. It's a very effective debating strategy. Now I'm ready to hear you tell me why stats don't matter after making stats the bedrock of your earlier argument.
It’s bcuz you use idiotic (arguments to validate your idiotic opinions. Your validation for AD having 1 winning without Lebron was Lebron was in a weak east? Uh okI guess when you can't refute cold hard facts smileys are the only option.
