But I’m focused on my team right now and preparing to win.” It’s always been the correct way to approach it.I agree, but he was put in a tough spot because he was asked directly by a reporter about it today. His options are 1) to be up front about it, 2) lie about it, or 3) refuse to answer, give an evasive answer or a non-denial denial, which makes it an even bigger story.
For all we know NC State was probably OK with all of this being announced once McNeese's season is over, but someone probably leaked it and he was directly asked if he had talked to NC State.
We’ve had coaches decide later not to take a job because it was leaked. It can be kept suppressed quite a bit if he just told them he wasn’t talking terms until afterward.
