Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I'm really not trying to be negative here, but this is where I stand...... not that anyone cares.

If UK is hitting shots, I don't think we can score with them. We have to get them out of their rhythm somehow.

What's wild is they just give up 3s...and had Illinois hit them at better than 28.1% we wouldn't be playing Kentucky.

Game 1 they simply couldn't miss... 50% FG & from deep...just a strange game to see Robinson, Brea and Almonor all 3 hot and they each hit at least 3 from outside.
Meanwhile same game we couldn't buy a bucket...we took 72 shots to their 50 but went 34.7% FG and 24.4% from deep...ZZ, Gainey, and Dubar all 3 took at least 7 from outside and none of them shot over 25%. First game I've seen us shoot ourselves out of it since Colorado in 22-23

Game 2 at Rupp we basically play a different team... no Robinson, but Carr and Butler are back they still shoot it lights out 50% FG and from deep again and we still can't buy a bucket from deep.

So the anomaly was really that in both games Kentucky shot so well AND we shot so bad.

I can’t remember specifics of what he said (I’m just a fan, not x’s & o’s person), but Pope made some comments in his post-game interview after 2nd game about how they handle our scheme. I hope our staff heard it.
I'm very elementary in my basketball knowledge. There's a lot that I don't know and I'm just getting to the point now where I can predict what we are trying to do, and see when a play is shut down by the defense.

I don't think we do anything too complicated. I don't think most teams are either. Defending in basketball is all about discipline, timing, and at times giving up the lowest percentage look you can it seems. Our defense works so well because of the age, athleticism and intelligence of our players. They're disciplined and they all are able to diagnose what our opponents are trying to do so we are a step ahead.

We get beat on the rare occasions when the opponent is lights out on low percentage looks, it takes us too long to diagnose a scheme and the opponent exploits mismatches and we shoot poorly, or the opponent has Zach Edey.

I doubt Pope revealed too much or something we didn't already know. They beat us because their guys stayed disciplined, executed the defense to our scheme, and exploited mismatches. They have the talent to do that. And they shot above their average twice.

That's what Illinois did though. They were one of the worst 3pt shooting teams in the tournament. They came in at 30%

Haven’t been around much lately but have a weird question. People saying Plowman and Danny were congratulating LV’s yesterday, does Danny have a skin head now?

Whoever was with Donde yesterday had no hair whatsoever..
Sorry if someone already answered you, but in the video that’s been posted White is across from Plowman, not beside her….you can see him toward the end.

I don't recall what he said after game two, but he said that they backed off from the three point line in game one because they dared us to shoot the 3. We shot like 45 of them.

He said it in general terms though, which was odd to me. If he meant just Mashak and Igor, then I could understand. But, I don't believe a coach is going to back off Chaz and Gainey. They went a combined 5-18 in that first game. ZZ went 1-11. Now, he may be trying to limit ZZ's drive game, but all 3 are shooting relatively well now, and they will not want to play totally off them.

His species appeared in the Galactic Senate, but he wasn't a Jedi. But it's possible there could have been Jedi within his species. Nothing supports your conclusion that E.T. himself was a Jedi as his powers were inherent to his species.
I saw it on the internet. . . was your brother, Chewbacca, a jedi?

Cant remember if someone on here posted or not. May have been @BenGrimm.

Someone posted that they'd dug too far underneath. Good news is they've found Mithril. Bad news is there may be a Balrog. Either way, they'd still need a $1M to justify.

😆
I love it when they ask me where I came up with my number and I tell them that I built in a surcharge for the inconvenience of me having to pack and move. They don't like my 100% surcharge figure. That is usually when they stop texting me back.

I've watched some videos on our offense and while most of it is pretty simple we actually do run a lot of actions. I struggle identifying the nuanced differences real time. To me it usually just looks like guys running around. There are some guys that break it down though and it is worth a watch.

Yeah it's a lot of chain offense (idk the basketball word for it) but just you run a play with options based on what the defense gives. And if the scoring play is covered it chains directly into the next play/motion until someone comes open for a score. Eventually as you chain these plays together the odds are a defense won't cover everything for a full 20-25 seconds once you get across half court. And sometimes you might dummy a motion/play to set up the play or look or mismatch you really want.

And we do it very fluidly. Its why we are so efficient offensively. Its also why we go through spurts where 1 guy is scoring or shooting back-2-back-2-back because he's probably got the mismatch on a defender who can't keep up. And when the defense plugs that hole, someone else gets the look.

How do we change the script on UK?

Obviously (at least it feels like) we're playing some really efficient offense at the right time.

It seems we need to score in the high 70s (not need but statistically very very helpful)

Honestly. Just play the Tennessee way and don't allow 50% from deep and Tennessee should win
