Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Sneaky, sneaky bastages. Tidbits of the “Settlement” had me nervous. One thing I heard was a CLEARINGHOUSE that could nix a NIL proposal before it was official. In effect, they could sandbag a mutually agreed upon deal and base it on any flimsy premise. Think they would have ok’d the Nico or Sanders deals? 🤨

Nope. What's the old saying? When someone shows you who they are, believe them. They have no intention of surrendering any power.

Saw this upset chart on X from Kelley Ford.

How many upsets does your team need to make the playoffs.

He has some cool content.

This is a good list. I like where Tennessee is listed, we are pretty much expected to go 9-3, which will keep us out of the cfp, but if we can upset either bama or uga we can have a realistic shot at the cfp

Nice drop. Stagg, Taylor, Bookers, Blanton’s Gold, Eagle Rare, Little Book, and the Yellowstone are nice pours. Can’t tell which Russell’s that is…but if 13 or Rickhouse, add them to the list. Other Russells are solid.

I’m not a huge fan of Weller. Not familiar with Kosher. Heard Nelson Bros is decent. Can’t tell what is next to Russell. Is that Jacobs Pardon? Jack is okay. Regular Blanton’s is okay. Some others in the back rows I cannot tell what they are. But overall, great haul.
Nelson’s Honey is a great pour but expensive as hell. The Russell’s was a 15. Next to that was Buffalo Trace experimental collection. Found North 19yr and Old Carter Rye are the other two

And exactly WHOM were representing the actual players all but ready to sign off on this “deal”? How does this boilerplate even reach a judge? In essence, the usual suspects who empowered the NCAA in the first place wrangled the membership to pay off their original malfeasance and grant them anti-trust exemption with even more power. If you don’t have either a moral judge or one who doesn’t want her name on the eventual Supreme Court reversal or both, this is a Pandora’s Box for the next decade. Disband these punks and get a workable business model imo.

1 of 5 so far tonight…and only due to the no fair catch if ball is on field of play. I agree with that. But the rest is BS. Onside kicks are a thing of the past. Not sure, but seem to recall hearing that teams have to announce if they are executing an onside kick. What a crock if that is true. I have not been on the anti Goodell wagon until this crap.

I watch very little NFL these past few years. Wife is a KC fan and I am a Dallas fan (since I live here in TX)…outside of those two teams playing, very few other games have my attention. I can look online for results for my fantasy leagues results.

Saturdays are for football. 😀
I'd say that for 90% of onside kicks, and 99% that really matter in the game, everyone knows they're coming.

The NCAA should have no authority or involvement in determining or regulating an athlete's NIL contract. These agreements should be left solely to the discretion of the athlete and their representatives.

Sounds like the NCAA is still asking the courts to give them an anti-trust exemption, even after the courts keep telling them to go to legislators for that?

They're kind of like an old buddy I used to go to bars with. He'd just keep asking ladies if they wanted to ____. He'd get slapped, insulted, refused. I asked why, and he said, "Play the numbers. It's all worth it when one says 'yes'."

If plaintiffs will stand firm against the corrupt NCAA they will win all the way to SCOTUS if necessary. That is one house that needs burned to the ground and the ashes salted. Start over somewhere else with different people and do it legally and ethically. The market can handle NIL.

I expect us to be favored over everyone but Bama and UGA. And I expect us to be uber competitive against them, so a win there would probably be an unset, but not staggering.

I expect that if we beat who we are supposed to beat, we are in the CFP.

(Now, we may go out and suck it up against NCSU and ruin that idea, but that's how I see it right now.)

Stuck on an island with two old rich folks, a doc with no medical supplies, a skinny bumbling idiot, and two uggos. It is a hard knock life for the Skipper.
There was no medical doc on Gilligan’s Island. The professor was a college professor (PhD). Get your facts straight.
Also, Mary Anne was from Tennessee. How dare you call her an uggo. Just ain’t right.

Also, has anyone seen Thurston Howell, III in the same room with @InVOLuntary ? Maybe, we have always known that they are the same person.

If they had been on one of his boats, none of that would have happened. 😎

Todd Fuhrman and crew on Bet The Board say they’re going to have to hop on NCSt if the number gets to 10. Interesting tidbit
