Recruiting Forum 90 Day Weight Loss Thread

6/23/19: 219

Help!!!

I weighed this morning and was at 219 UP 5 pounds from last week. I cut my calorie intake by (estimated) 50% and walked at least 2 miles each day last week......only to gain 5 pounds. Has this happened to anyone else or is this happening to anyone now? If so, what was your plan of action?

On the flip side, I look thinner and my clothes feel lose (or big). Also, I do not take any medicine.

June 23: weight 190.2
Think I stayed the same - a huge victory for me after over a week of vacation in Louisiana - every activity we did seemed to revolve around meals, which were as opposite from “light” and “healthy” as you can imagine. Surprised I’m not up 15 pounds.

Three weeks in and still going. Leg day today. No fun. Anyone finding any particularly filling and enjoyable foods that don’t sabotage you? Feel like I’m eating grilled chicken all the time.

High fat fish like salmon, swordfish, and tuna work wonders for me. They're flavorful, you can grill them, and they have the Omega 3 fatty acids that help with weight loss and burning body fat. I'll have some once or twice a week. Bison is my favorite choice since bison have a highly regulated diet where they're eating grass. Grass fed beef and lamb are my other go to choices for proteins.

Given that you look thinner and your clothing is loose fitting, that means your body is recompositioning. Dropping body fat and replacing it with lean muscle mass.

Good job, keep it up. You'll see the pounds dropping soon.

Well folks, I’m at 202 today. Kind of bummed, but I know I’m putting the work in. If next Sunday is the same, I’ll start getting pissed. I also only got about 15 miles in last week. Did 4 today to start better. @GoVolsDR thanks for the recommendations. Have a restaurant in the front of our neighborhood that has a great tuna meal. I also need to learn to cook fish. Now is as good of a time to learn as any.

I hope you are correct. It's depressing to see the pounds go up with increased exercise and decreased food intake. Regardless, I going to continue through the timeframe and then see where I'm at......time will tell.

Sorry guys, forgot to weigh in yesterday. 245.0 this morning. Lost almost everything I gained from the beach. I was actually at 242.5 mid week but gained a little despite being back on low carb diet.

Updated Sheet

Looking like we've got drop outs... @BigOrange15 @HoleInTheRoof and I know @VolDaddy87 said it'd be a few weeks on him weighing in.

Only 4 of us are heavier than we started, so a bit of work to do there. The good news is it's mostly related to vacations impacting diets so I know ya'll will be back on track soon! Keep at it, Also doing good work @SLICKYINC & @GoVolsDR the two clear-cut leaders at the moment.

Didn’t get any exercise in last week. Hoping to lose a few more pounds this week.

I'm right at 218. I'll be getting some walking in this week so hopefully I'll be lower next Sunday.

I hear seafood is slimming

I'd go full pescatarian if it wasn't so expensive, but I still have seafood for dinner 4-5 times a week. Shellfish especially are some of the healthiest and most nutritionally dense protein sources you can find.

Bamping this thread with some excellent scientific, but readily accessible, content around the topic of Fasting.

AMA if you all have any questions on the topic

Two days early on the weigh in but still sitting at 202. Not disappointed. Haven’t gained, and I’ve hit the gym twice with a third coming tomorrow and have already knocked out 18 of my 21 mile goal for the week. Be back on the Sunday schedule next week. And who knows, the stress of getting 5 kids through airport security may shave off another 10 or so lbs today.

Just gotta watch your mercury intake. Other than that it's a very healthy part of your diet. Doc's are saying Americans do not get nearly enough fish in their diet.

That's very true. I love tuna and swordfish, but I'll eat those once a week at most due to Mercury. Canned chunk light tuna is good since that's lower in mercury, since it's not as high as the yellowfin tuna on the foodchain and avoids the mercury consumption you see with larger fish.

Sardines are very healthy and some of the most nutritious fish around, plus they're dirt cheap and readily available in canned form. It's important to avoid the sardines that are canned in oil, since it's usually lower quality oil like canola. Best to purchase sardines in water.
