Damn good question. Will Overstreet was the first name that jumped in my head but he definitely benefited from playing with some tremendous talent inside. Only other person I can remember off the top of my head is Robert Ayers. Ayers had his moments.

Overstreet didn't demand double teams That was Henderson and Haynesworth.

Just looked it up, Overstreet is the UT all time leader in QB hurries with 49 (disclaimer: this has only been a recorded stat since 1995).

This just was posted in the Gruden thread.

Wow if true.

Give Dooley one more year. The big thing is whether Bray will stay or go, that will have a big impact next year. UT has alot of players returning which should help alot. Sunseri in year 2 has to be better. UGA loses alot on defense especially the DLine and secondary. UF will have a few on defense declare also like Elam and Floyd. USCe will lose half of their defense but should still be solid overall. So UT will have a great opportunity to take a big step forward

Haven't we heard this before?

In case anyone is interested espnu is about to show an all access following the referees during the UT/USCe game. Starts in couple minutes.

The only way I'd be okay with Dooley coming back is if he gets an elite recruiting class this year. Unfortunately the class right now is just not very good and will not get UT any closer to where it needs to be. Elite recruiting classes is what UT needs more than anything.

when was the last time Tennessee had an outside rush guy on the DLine that commanded a double team?

Robert Ayers maybe??? The DEs off the 2005 defense brought it all game. Malik Jackson could've been that player had he played outside. Maggitt could be that player if he was to just stay healthy. But we are in definite need of quite a few pass rushers(4 if you ask me). Sentimore playing at his best could help. But we've got to get some elite talent in here.

SN: I find it kinda funny we're blaming the AD in the Bell thread but Kiffin was recruiting like a madman here.

Kiffin recruited like a madman but look at his first class and who panned out....i would rather have 20 guys who contribute than 1 superstar and 5 guys contributing. You really want to see why we are where we are??? Look at Fulmers last class and Kiffins class, maybe a handfull of guys who contributed their senior years

I agree the class was a bust but I'm just saying the right coach can get players here.

We want Dooley gone as a fanbase. If he can't beat Bama he can go home and hang with Vince.

I dont think its about just beating Bama. His record against other top SEC schools is pretty bad but u all also have to look at what he inherited. You need about 4 years to fixed those issues.

Ole Miss with far less talent looked better against a bitter rival than us. He's in year 3 and he has beat who? And he lost to an extremely bad Kentucky team. He has to go like right now period.

It's not, but what it is about is seeing improvement in our players through coaching; putting our players in position to make plays; calling plays on both sides of the ball that fit our players' strengths (on offense we have done this to an extent, but there are A LOT of plays, such as different screens, that are never called that would be perfect for the type of skill players we have). It has been said over and over...when posters on this board, who have above average football intelligence, have been calling for things for WEEKS and our coaches in week 11 of the season are just now starting to see some of those things, then there is a HUGE problem with our coaching staff...specifically our defensive staff and HC!!! You mean to tell me that it takes until week 11 to think about the possibility of our HC moving to the defensive room to try to help out; or it takes this long to think about putting our DC in the box so that maybe he will see things better???!!! I have wanted DD and our staff to succeed and have been pulling hard for them, but it's hard to support those who are supposed to know about this game, yet continue to make the same stupid mistakes and play calls over and over and over!! RM20, this isn't directed at you, so don't take it the wrong way...first time, I've unleased my frustrations about our program and staff this year.

U and breaker have made great points. The first mistake was hiring Sal. A team like UT, who is trying to get things back running, doesnt need an inexperienced DC calling the shots. U bring in a proven guy under these circumstances.
