You would have to be extremely up front with the new hire and let them know that they may be demoted to a position coach if a new HC is hired. That's why I mentioned all 3 guys with UT ties. Also, Steele is unemployed and may take a 2-year deal.

I'd rather just hand the DC job to freaking Conklin or Ansley than give it to Steele. Steele got exposed with weeks of preparation and top talent at Clemson.

Sal is too emotional to be a sideline DC. I think moving him to the booth will detach him emotionally from the game a bit and allow him to call a smarter game.
The move to the press box is a tacit signal that Josh Conklin is probably making the defensive calls and is playing a bigger role in scheming from here on.

Steele would be a good get. Venables is not doing much better as the DC in Clemson. There issues were personnel related more so than scheme.

It would have to be someone who would remain on the next staff because any DC would require a 3-year deal. Kevin Steele, Dale Jones or Marion Hobby would make sense.

Is there any scenario where Dooley will return to coach us next season?

And if there is will his contract not have to be renogotiated?

The university cannot expect him to recruit with only 3 years remaining on his cuurent deal and with Dooley knowing the seat is hot I would think he would want a bigger buy out for next season.

IMO, there is a scenario. Cheek is fighting for him because he doesn't want to pay the buyout. And I think they would give him a year extention. Not really a rousing endorsement.

Yeah that would just put us in the same situation next season but we would have one more year to find a replacement. There has to be a point though that it affects recruiting and a long term deal has to be put in place.

I've got a cousin. We play on the x-box all the time. He didn't play highschool ball, but he's a handful on defense when we play. I can usually only manage to score 31 or so.

He's unemployed right now, but he served tables at Regas a few years back, so ya know? TIFWIW, SIAP.

Dooley could receive a 50-year contract extension, but if the buyout remains the same, it really wouldn't matter. It's all hypothetical talk anyway b/c Dooley is history from what I have been told.

Is that from boosters, coaches or administration?

Thank you that is what I wanted to hear.

Everyone else with Admin sources are saying Hart is fighting to keep Dooley, and that the hiring of Sal was largely because of Hart.

Cheek and Hart are fighting over money, Hart wants to take away the endowment that the AD gives to the school for scholarships, Cheek says that's not an option...

If you take away 6-8 mil in scholarship money, alot of graduate students would be SOL...

The predicament is precarious to say the least

Nope....I think you are slighting the Oregon offense. USC couldn't even slow them down. And that Bama defense isn't what people think it is. I think they'll be upset Saturday. But against Oregon Jesse Williams would catch hell because they don't run straight ahead all game. And Bama is giving up the edges a lot this year.

SN: Dooley should've tried to sign Jeremy Hill with the case and all. After the details came out you could tell it was a BS case.

Auburn's average D a few years ago exposed that Oregon offense, Fairley was a big part of that game. Physical front 7s can give that offense problems. USCw couldnt slow them down because the weakness of their defense is the DLine and they have no depth, that spells trouble against Oregon. Bama front 7 is legit, LSU only averaged 3 ypc. They are not really giving up the edge as much as you think, its just when you compare them to last year's defense it seems that way. Its hard to compare them to last year's defense that was one of the best ever.

You have been calling Bama to get beat since the Tenn. game. So you have a great chance to be correct one day. lol. I agree A&M offense will challenge Bama.

I never said Miss. State would beat you. Your defense gave 300+ to LSU. Your D-line isn't as good as the Auburn line their championship year. Also the QB is better this year. Darron Thomas was scared in the championship game. Nico Johnson, Nick Perry, and Sunseri will be exposed again. I do think you all will hurt them with your offense if you make it. They'll catch hell trying to stop the run game. But I'm glad people got to see Bama wasn't on this "untouchable" level.

BTW: send a Thank You card to Chavis for that prevent defense. That's his trademark to end games. :)

Sounds like to me certain insiders will have lots of e-cred and the "smoke" insiders are gonna get bashed when this thing works itself out jmo not discrediting anyone I think there's a big smoke screen covering gru to TN.
