Sunseri was very well respected before Saban. Sunseri is a great position coach, just terrible d coordinator. Its Dooley's fault for hiring him at a position he can't do.

He was a good recruiter for UT too before the season started. The problem is that UT has done terrible and his defense is terrible. We have been in it for some great defensive players before the season starts because of him, Carl Lawson is a perfect example.

Before his defense had the chance to look terrible, he whiffed on linebackers.

Do you think Lawson would think he was the "best LB coach in the nation" if he didn't coach at Bama previously?

A lot of that had to with the hot seat talk. I don't know, Im not Carl Lawson. Im sure him coaching at Bama helped, but he was considered a great coach before he got to Bama. I don't see how anyone will be able to tell how well he recruited when he was lb coach at Pitt, LSU, and Mich St.

Does anybody know exactly how espn3 works? I'll be down in Oxford Saturday with my girlfriend and wanna watch as much of the game as I can before we head to the grove. (and then watch vandy get spanked :))


They don't have sec network so I was hoping to watch it on a Mac. I can't remember exactly what all you have to do to set up an account or if it's relative to location or not, and remember last time I tried it wouldn't work for some reason so any insight would help.

Isn't it a big problem to make contact with an employed coach during the season? I thought that contact had to wait until the last regular season game is played.

I had to make sure Adobe was installed and updated before I could make it work on my Mac. It's been awhile since i set it up, but I don't remember it being difficult.

I understand Kirby Smart is not the homerun type hire people were looking for. For several years now KS has been a name thrown out when any jobs came available. Most of the people who would be doing any hiring of coaches seem to think he is a pretty good coach. Alot say they would not support Smart as the new coach at Tennessee. Let him beat UF, Oregon, or UGA next year and something tells me people will sing a different tune. JMO

I think a lot of the antipathy towards Smart has to do with people viewing the success of that defense as a result of Saban's direction and not his. Mostly, though, I think the antipathy has to do with the fact that people here are kind of tired of the Alabama-North direction this program has taken the last few years. Smart may very well end up being a good coach somewhere, maybe even here, but he understandably will not be well-received until some big wins start to come in.

im with you on that one - don't want anything to do with someone on Saban's defensive staff not named Saban

and by done i mean watch every game and throw more at the TV than usual - certainly don't mean not watching UT football :)

I'm not saying Smart is gonna be a great coach. I certainly do find it funny that all of Saban's previous DC's have done decent jobs as HC's. But nobody wants Smart because Saban is the puppet master.

The problem is if he starts out the year with butt whippings by Florida and Oregon, and he will if Bray/Hunter/Patterson leave, you're right where you'd be with Dooley...a half empty building and a fanbase sick of Alabam retreads. It's just got to be a proven HC or it's just not worth the cost of a change.
