Gotcha. I dont go over there so whatever is stated here is what i read. But it is time for something to happen. I cant believe Cheek doesnt see it or refuses to address the issue the right way.

You'd do good to never go over there.

Apparently, there is more to it then simply firing Dooley and getting Gruden. The word is that because of control issues between the academic side of UT and the athletic side, Gruden does not want to come. It has been stated that any coach worth a darn would also not come when he sees the structure. I am all in for a coaching change, but this is not as easy as throwing 5 million at someone.

Also, Cheek does not care about football, but maybe when he sees University $$$ draining because of fan apathy, he'll change his tune.

Its pretty pathetic when the only thing some fans have left is for Bama to lose to another team. I know some UT fans are embarrassed by others. The focus should be finding out why UT is going backwards.

This is one of the saddest things i have seen posted on VN.

UT should be a powerhouse in the best conference. We have tradition, facilities and a fan base good enough to be top in the land. If this is true then i feel completely sorry for these kids. You can argue that they chose to come here, but that is a little over the top to say.

If true then Cheek needs to go. I would love to see UT have great academics (i am a grad student in the Chemistry Dept. so i guess i am a little biased lol), but football is also very important here. It is life and to a lot of people a source of pride and can also be seen as a religion. I hate saying this, but if Cheek doesnt want to put football on the front burner then i say the fans need to do something to grab his attention. Heck i dunno...maybe boycott games and not give a single dime to the university until he recognizes how much football brings to the university or a huge crowd surrounds him in his office and have a little "come to Jesus" meeting with him. I still support these players, i will always be a huge Vol fan and was a big supporter of Dooley, but i cant support him any longer. I wish him the best with his future endeavors.

Execution on the 2pt conversion from UT
Missed FG and no confidence in Palardy

But honestly it come down to Defense and poor coaching

After that, um, display at the end of regulation...I have no clue what to expect.

If that team can get themselves together enough to play for each other I will be thoroughly impressed with the leaders on that team.

Frankly, I can't see them really getting fired up to play for Dooley after that. In all honestly, I know I'd have a hard time.

I hate to say it too, but tonight was a signature win for Franklin and a good one. Difference between him and good coaches compared to Dooley is that they find a way to win. Dooley's team has yet to win a close game and its a fact that Dooley is a terrible second half coach. If your team can't find a way to pull it out in the end then you wont survive in the SEC. Ole Miss has been a decent team and they won in Oxford. Next week, we are facing a very good receiver duo in Jordan Matthews and Chris Boyd with a scrambling qb. I just don't see UT winning this game which is absolutely pathetic considering the talent we have on Both sides of the ball.

Here is a shocking stat. If Vandy beats Tennessee, they have a good chance to go 8-4, 5-3 in the SEC. Absolutely pathetic Dooley is struggling to get 6 this year.

There is an art in coaching of closing and finishing off a game. Dooley has never learned how to do that. He just does a horrible job of managing end game situations and clock management. I was in his his corner until today. It was poor decision and poor adjustments all second half long. You could see that he just does not have the feel.

We wouldn't have to worry about items 3 and 4 if the defense could make stops on plays like that.

Most SEC games are close games. Good coaches find a way to win. Dooley finds a way to lose. I just can't see a positive in keeping him.

Hubs info:

Word is Dooley will not be fired this week since the team still has a bowl game to play for.

The decision to fire him is made and if we win out the next two weeks he will be announced as fired after the Kentucky game.

If we were to lose to Vandy and bowl game is then out of the question he would be fired that subsequent Monday.

Everyone in program very much wants a bowl game for the new coach to come in and get to know the team.



I don't understand why they don't just go ahead & do it. It goes from he has to beat either bama or usce to he's out if we lose one of the last four to he's out once we're not bowl eligible. Just can his ass already if the decision has been made.
