Because they have a smart head coach. LSU exploited the same Bama secondary. Bray and company with the weapons we have outside scored all of 13 points. But you know I said before the season we matched up well with Bama. I knew we had a clear advantage on the edges. Tennessee's "hired"coaches didn't even recognize this. Makes me laugh man. People say do you think you know more than the coaches, hell I'm not too far behind the ones on the UT sideline. :)

I hope our next head coach is a smart one. (That's small s, not large S.)

I complained about the OC week 1. He's as much to blame(really the head coach) as the DC in some games. The Miss. State, Florida, and Georgia game he just stops running the ball when we are punishing their defenses. He runs maybe 12 plays a game. He could've hung 40 on Mizzou in regular time. Patterson should've been fed at the end of the game when it was close. Mizzou had no answer for him. But you know he's not a smart guy and I can't wait for him to be fired too.

When we do you use patterson it is the same plays. Pitch to the right, reverse out of the same formation that everybody knows is coming.

What made me mad from yesterday is that we kept calling the same pull play to the week side.

A blind man could call plays for Tennessee and have a lot of success with all the weapons we have. Jim Chaney has repeatedly screwed the pooch when we've needed good calls at crucial moments throughout his entire tenure at Tennessee. He is every bit as culpable for our demise as Sunseri and Dooley. Chaney's calls when we were up 28-21 with about 5 minutes left and only needed to milk the clock and win the game are among the worst of any OC, ever.

That string of calls with 5 to go were indeed among the worst ever. His critical moment plays are ineffective to say the least.

As with most coordinators, I always wonder how much the HC filters his calls.

That said, I don't think Chaney is above some criticism. I think he's way down the list of things wrong with this team, but the play calls are down right odd at times, and sometimes seem needlessly complicated.

The HC doesn't manage his coaches period. He let Chaney have free reign which is why we completely stopped running the ball versus Florida second half. Chaney isn't way down the list to me. He's right behind Sal.

It goes:

1.Dooley(stupid)
2.Sunseri(dumbest football mind I've seen)
3. Chaney(stat man who can't call a winning drive if he wanted to)

Dont know if this is out yet or its even been discussed here, but Dooley is out. I dont know when it will be announced but the decision has been made. 99% chance Patterson will not be back next year, he couldnt return if he wanted to.

Curt is done for the year.

Don't get me wrong, some additional balance on O would help the whole team but at the end of day if you do not have a top D in the SEC it makes it very tough.

LSU had a similar situation in 08, everyone was blaming Jarrett Lee for all the pick sixes (which did not help), but the D was giving up tons of yardage and points.

2008
21 Auburn
24 Miss St.
51 Florida
17 S. Carolina
52 Georgia
27 Alabama
31 Troy
31 Ole Miss
31 Arkansas

Since then LSU has only had three opponents that have scored over 30 and one was an OT game to Arkansas in 2009.... that is 3 games in 50 since then. With that their record got better.

It's a Defensive league. Bama lost the game yesterday not because of their O, they lost because their D was unwilling or unable to adjust.

I'll never figure out why Chaney doesn't use receiver screens, bubble screens, or any other types of plays to get Patterson in easy open space. The only time Chaney tries to get CP the ball is on reverses and tosses. I think its a no brainer to use screens with CP yet he won't do it.

The curls worked great against South Carolina especially with Hunter and it worked great with CP against NC State and UF yet we hardly use it them game. Missouri gave the offense favorable matchups all night.

I guess I meant way down since the first two (Dooley, then Sunseri) are so huge.

Ultimately, you can put problems 2 through 10 in about any order when the guy at the top is your main issue.

All of that is not unexpected. I wish Patterson the best. He has been a joy to watch. So many of our players have been this year. Real shame that the coaches blew it with such a quality roster. A better coaching staff and these guys would have made some noise.

That sucks about Patterson, but I'm not surprised. I know someone who had a class with Patterson and Sentimore this year and they said they hardly went to class. That doesn't mean he is a bad student so I was just hoping he did great on the tests. He was fun to watch. UT is desperately going to miss him. He made games so enjoyable.

I plan to pay careful attention to the guys on this year's roster. I'm anxious to see how many go on to the NFL. While there was no way this group was going to win a title, I think they had a 9 or 10 win ceiling. This year was such a missed opportunity.

I will be surprised if Dooley stays in coaching. I liked him as a person, but there is no doubt now that he was a really bad HC.

Explain LSU's Mettenberger's success. He's the same type of pocket passer.

If you watched both games they are totally different. Lsu was running the ball effectivley and lsu WRs were making ridiculous catches on many occasions.

Mettnberger didn't have close to the game that manziel had

Why would grades keep CP from coming back at all? Just confused.

LSU had success in obvious passing situations. Why wasn't Rivera used versus Bama? They had Nico Johnson on him, he can't cover the pass well. Sunseri's kid can't cover a lick either. But we didn't attack him. Texas A&M threw short and bullied the Bama DBs at times.
