LOVE Willie Taggart. I've also heard people may be focusing on the wrong Gruden, and that Jay is VERY much in play for the HC job and would bring Raheem Morris with him.

I could go for this 100%. I personal still want Gary Patterson, I just don't want Petrino or Smart that's just my personal choice.

lol @ Jeff Fisher

I seriously doubt Fisher would come either, but he has a kid on the team and has spent a lot of time in Auburn which leaves some to have a glimmer of hope. At this point, I think Malzahn may become a compromise pick or JABA (just Auburn being Auburn) will go with some mid-major coach.

I think Freeze is going to make some noise in the SEC.

LWS pointed that UT is willing to pay the house for someone like Gruden but not someone like Strong or Mullen. Its the reason why I don't think we will get either. Louisville said they would make Strong the highest paid coach and Miss State would over pay Mullen to keep him.

Louisville is talking out their hiney hole. Strong will come here if that's who we want.

Agreed on Freeze, he has done well with the talent that he has had this year and is really going to bring in some top notch talent as well. Freeze along Chris Kiffin (who it is beginning to look like he can recruit like his older brother) are looking like they can be hell on the recruiting trail.

If were going to go after other head coaches offer David Shaw...

David Shaw reminds me of Bill Battle just from a situation standpoint. Both took over great teams and both had great early success.

The difference is that Battle started losing once Dickey's players were gone. I wonder how Shaw would do when Harbaugh's players are gone.

How many years has each been on the job? And who's had more chances to do work? Mullen 1-17 versus ranked teams is very telling.

i think it is more telling that he is the coach at mistate as opposed to his ability as a coach

when he took over state i dont think anyone would have thought that from 2010-2012 Mullen would have wins against florida georgia, tennessee, Auburn, a ranked Ole miss team and a rout of A&M in a bowl game

also he beat florida when they were ranked so 2 wins against top 25

he has 12 wins in the SEC in his 4 years so far - we have 8 in that same time frame and our coaches have far more resources at their disposal

you can argue about whether he is the right guy to get us to a championship level - but he was a champion level OC and what he has done at MiState is nothing short of miraculous - he would be a tremendous upgrade over our current staff

Let Louisville pay Strong. His teams have never impressed me.

Yes sir, very good coach. And a great recruiter looking at the Stanford classes. That OL and Barry Sanders Jr. Then he got a big-time safety out of Florida and Noor Davis.the LB from Florida. I'd love the hire personally.

id take Shaw

really Hart is a lucky man - difficult to find a coach worthy of replacing Fulmer

finding a coach that is an upgrade on Dooley - not hard at all - Gruden, Petrino, Shaw, Patterson, Mullen - its pretty easy to start assembling a list that is better than Dools

He completely slipped my mind as an option I'd love to have him. I'd like to see our running game if he keeps CSP and CJG with what we have coming back.

My first choice would be G. Patterson. After that I'm not too sure who I'd be jumping for joy for. (Obviously gruden but that is not realistic)

What's everyones best guess on a time frame? After the Kentucky game? Any chance its before that if we don't beat vandy?

I will agree with you that he has been just what the doctor ordered at MSU, but I have to disagree that Mullen would be a tremendous upgrade for this university.

Look at the wins you just mentioned. Mullen did beat Florida (big upset for MSU) on a year they went 7-5, because their kicker was injured, and they consequently missed 4 or 5 field goals in the game. They beat Georgia on a year that UGA went 6-6 (MSU was 1 of the 4 teams to face UGA without A.J. Green). He beat us this year - we all know how down we are. He finally beat Auburn this year - we all know how down they are. He beat Michigan at the Gator Bowl - Rich Rod was immediately fired after the game.

While he is a great coach for a school like MSU, UT could not move on to the next level under Dan Mullen, IMO.

Freeze is a good offensive mind who also runs the ball. Him with our offensive talent would have been scary.

Long term success in the SEC involves playing sound defense with size and speed and an offense that will knock your teeth out with the run game (version of pro style offense - slower version than what we have now) and pass efficiently.

Everyone falls in love with a running QB but Tebow, Manziel, Klein are once in a lifetime.

Gruden, Patterson, Shaw, and Fitzgerald are the ones who can deliver.
