Thats what I'm saying tho. Strong really doesn't have clear advantage over Mullen because he hasn't played that many ranked teams. I think Strong would be a great recruiter here and has a lot of ties to Florida which puts him at an advantage over Mullen.

Thats what I like too. If we can pull 3 or 4 South Florida players a year that would be schweeeeeet :peace2:

As I recall, he has strong ties to Stanford. His dad was a coach there and he is an alumni.

SCt, what would be your opinion on kiffin & Co at Auburn?

Heard someone on radio a few days ago mention him at AU as a possibility if Haden at usc decides his off field troubles & the fact they could have 4 or 5 losses this year after being preseason #1 is too much. Ftr, I think he said it just speculating more than having info about it.

Would you support that hire & do you think the majority of au fans would?

I neither have heard anything about Kiffin and crew at AU, nor do I think a majority would support his hire. If AU could justify/come to grips with the moral and ethical issues of Kiffin, we will hire Petrino, who appears to be the favorite of majority of fanbase.

It won't happen but for me the guy I'd hire? Bill O'brien.

He brings NFL credentials, is his own OC. He could bring Ted Roof in as DC, keep Graham & Pittman on staff, add Tee Martin as Co-OC/QB's coach or WR coach.

That would give you 4 guys already w/ connections to recruiting areas in the south & guys that have worked in the SEC & knows the grind already.

O'Brien is only being paid around $2.4-$2.5 mill a year at PSU I think, wouldn't take much more to get him w/ the sanctions at PSU IMO.

I'll step away & prepare for stone throwing. Lol.

He is one of my top 5 or 6. He would be one helluva hire.

They said on the NFL pregame show today that NFL teams are going to be looking at him. He apparently isn't happy too because Penn State promised him no sanctions.

That would be a pretty good outcome to all this if it happened. I do question if O'brien would feel somehow obligated to stick with them and to not walk out on Penn State with everything they have been through of late. Who knows, he may went out asap.

I can't believe you're still stuck on Gruden. Just going to come out looking silly in the end.

Chavis may very well come out looking silly to you all, but from where I stand, his Gruden support is IT!!! Gruden is the only one that could have us back in 1 or 2 years. Any other coach will be a 3 to 4 year project. And, provided it's not Gruden, they will earn a 4th year, because they will actually beat one or two ranked SEC teams (at least) to earn them a fourth year.

Athletics Director Dave Hart has been on campus most of the day. He has met with Dooley. He was also at the Lady Vols soccer game. As of about an hour ago, the assistants were prepping for Monday's practice.

As we wrote earlier today (along with others) sources indicate it's a matter of when and not if.

But that when still is up in the air and might not happen till a week from now.

It's like this: Chavis, I am with you, but at the end of the day, I'm tired of us all fighting. Let's all just be friends! haha! Seriously, though, I hope whoever the next hire is will unite us all. Been too crazy these last few years.

I will say this, and nothing against Dooley or his staff, but I honestly believe it would be best to go ahead and get it over with. Players have to know it's coming. It could be a "rally the troops" sort of thing if we got rid of him and named an interim. Couldn't get any worse.

Word is that Hart met with the team today and told them Dooley won't be back next year. They know.

Yeah, I read that elsewhere as well. It brings up the question: would it be best to officially inform the fan base now or not? I have my view, but if the money people want it this way and are willing to do their thing behind the scenes, then, by all means, take all the time necessary.
