Mark Dantonio's downfall is unexpected.

If he gets fired and doesn't retire, someone needs to scoop him up. He'll be a Rick Barnes football hire IMO. Needs to reset his clock.

Edit: Just saw he's a South Carolina grad. Timing likely won't work out for them due to Boom's buyout.

I am going to be that guy this morning and challenge all of the JG haters to show some character and apologize. There have been some horrible things said about him, and I have also said things I should not have. So, I apologize and retract them. There is no way that you are going to convince me that he does not bleed orange with every fiber of his being. He played terrific last night. I don't want to hear any more garbage about how his passes don't travel very far or that he just throws jump balls. He puts those jump balls right where he is supposed to. Not only that, but he ran for two huge first downs, one on a scramble. I don't think we win if he doesn't play last night. I know it was an ugly 4 point win over Kentucky, but getting to a bowl game is critical for this team. Thank you Broadway Joe. I know many of you have already spoke up for him and that shows that you can stand up and own that you may have been wrong. I am also going to tag @BruinVol because I recall him having JG's back when almost no one else did. I love this team and the culture change that is happening right in front of our eyes. #winout GBO!

Did you see the clip of the after the game celebration. Didn't even seem like the same kid. He seemed like tons had been lifted off his shoulders and spoke to the camera and the Tennessee fans. This is not the same JG. I've said it a few times now. Sitting him on the bench and letting him see he has to earn his job on the field has done wonders for the kid. I'm also going to give receivers coaches a lot of credit for receivers running the right routes and getting open.

At 63 scholarship players, losing a boat load of seniors and the inevitable transfers, no way we get even close to 85 next year with the 25 limit. My guess is we'll be significantly under 85 at around 75. That 25 limit makes it take years to rebuild a roster. It sucks and is one reason the big guys stay on top.

He’s always made it by on good coaching never signed the flashy kids.

What about radio?

What about him?

He needs a full off-season & plenty of reps.

He didn’t have a bad game, 7-16 98 yards and 18 rushing yards. Didn’t make any bonehead throws, we had a few drops too. I think in RPOs he had a few poor reads was surprised he got pulled, but JG has been pretty lights out coming off the bench and lit them up in the 3rd quarter.
He will not receive the reps with HB arriving.

Chad Morris gone...so:

Are we talking to Darin Turner at all? He's a 4* WR out of Memphis. Besides him, I don't see much there worth stealing.

Iowa st lost to OU by 1...can't tell me 2020 Vols with no Hurts...maybe no Riley...can't win that.
I just hope slow starting is not a..thing..with this staff. However...I am sure it being Okie probably precludes a GSU-BYU "still practicing" misstep by the staff..

I'll wait to see. Chaney is definitely shifting the offense towards more slants and rpo. Iirc HB was supposed to be a prototypical qb best suited for a PA pass, deeper ball type of offense.

I like how Maurer runs the offense overall. I don't think it is anyone's job next year. Going to be a very interesting Spring!

What I love most about this team and coaching staff is that we are winning these games as a TEAM. In 2014 it felt like Dobbs just put the team and coaches on his back and carried them to a bowl. But there's no real standout player doing that for us right now. It's just a team effort across the board. Everyone is stepping up and improving and getting it done. Much better sign for the future than expecting Jones to find another Dobbs after he ran out of eligibility.

That 63 number has to be including redshirts and injuries. We have 78 Scholarship players on our roster. It is a bit misleading...

The more I watch the more I think so much of it was simply not having Bituli. He's so critical to us lining up correctly. He's a boss out there pushing and shoving DL tellin em where to move to. Without him we lacked an alpha willing to shove guys and scream MOVE OVER! All alignment issues not-so-magically disappeared with his return. If we don't blow alignments vs gsu, we don't give up 38 points. And he tells AT to get his butt back vs byu.

Staff will have Toots ready to be that guy next year. Though we also need a replacement for Nigel, as he's the boss in the back. Not sure who does that right now. Preferrably Theo or Flowers I guess.
