Basically...LSU going undefeated puts a 1 loss Bama team at the top of the pile for that 4th spot.

Clemson, LSU, Ohio State/Minnesota going undefeated secures them in the top 3. OU, Oregon, Bama all sitting at 1 loss will be quite the debate since the other two will be champions of weaker Power 5 conferences.
and both the big 12 and pac 12 have losses to the SEC during hte regular season. KSU's win over MSU not withswtanding, there's not a whole lot either of those conferences have to stand on right now.

and we gotta face it...bama's been there, done that, so it's hard not to just "trust" that they're one of the best 4.

Now...what'd be hilarious.

Georgia wins out (and beats undefeated LSU in the title game) You end up with 3 SEC teams who are both at one loss.
OSU loses to Penn State or Michigan and then beats the brakes off Minnesota. Baylor loses to OU, but beats 'em in the conference championship rematch. Oregon loses to Arizona State but beats Utah in the championship game.

WELL THEN YOU'LL HAVE 3 1 LOSS SEC TEAMS!!! LOL All with legit argument to be in the CFP

Funny how people in the media refuse to consider that Frost is overrated as a coach

What he did at UCF was great. Nobody can, or should, take that out of an argument to say he isn't a good coach. Nebraska was in a bad spot when he arrived and I think he deserves 4 years. However, he isn't helping his case when he is sitting at 4 wins and his top rusher is his QB with less than 400 yards rushing on the year. ESPN has been sucking his jock strap for a while now and they NEVER admit being wrong. That's why you see the article named the way it is. Should read "Nebraska's Hope's and Coach Started Out Hot, End Frosty" or something like that.

LSU should have the right to defer the sec championship appearance to Alabama. Alabama basically gets rewarded because they lost to LSU. Alabama should have to play the extra game to get into the playoffs. Alabama should have to risk injury for an extra game. Alabama should have one less week to prepare for the playoff than LSU.

As much as i like Minnesota and fleck they won’t get through that schedule and Ohio state. I wish they would be it’s not happening
I agree, but until they lose, they should be ranked on what they've done, not what we assume will happen. No one gave them a chance against Penn state either.

I agree, but 2 key factors...Auburn had a bye week and it’s at Auburn. I think that gives the edge to Auburn. They will probably put in some wrinkles Georgia hasn’t seen yet.

I agree, but home field has not really meant a whole lot in that series. And I don't know how many wrinkles Malzahn can put in for Nix. If he was a Nick Marshall/Cam Newton-type of QB running the type of option offense Malzahn has had his most success with, I would probably favor Auburn in this game. Malzahn might open the playbook a bit more for Nix, but I think he is limited to how wide open the offense can be right now with Nix at this point in his career.

I think Auburn has a slight edge because of the bye week, but I think that edge is more than negated by UGA having a far better RB corps, and having a senior QB against a true freshman QB.

Uga has 4 players not playing because of injury last week too

I am in favor of expansion to either a 6 or preferably an 8 team playoff. Have your conference champs and then at-large or wildcard team/teams. And start the freakin playoffs at max 2 weeks after conference championship games. I get so frustrated at the 5 or 6 week lapse in between the season and waiting so long for the playoff games.
With 8 teams you could have all 5 Power Conference champions, the highest ranked non power 5, and the 2 remaining highest teams according to the college football playoff rankings.

It was a really good game with Penn St, but neither one of them really may be very good. Minnesota got a last minute win vs GA Southern and barely got by Purdue. Penn St scraped by a 3 loss Iowa team that has no offense and snuck by a Michigan team that went to overtime with Army. They barely got by Pitt too.

I'm more concerned with how good their best opponent was, not the combined record of all the bad teams they've all played.

Of course, moving the goal post.

For what it's worth Team B is Minnesota, A Clemson, and C was Baylor. So combined record edge to Minnesota and then of course Penn State is an 8-1 team they beat too so they are OBVIOUSLY the best team, right?

That's not moving the goal posts. Whether you play arky or Vandy or UK is immaterial. Those are all bad teams with varying bad records. Whether you played and beat Bama or LSU or Penn state in addition to bad teams does matter, and Minnesota has done that, Clemson hasn't.

It's impossible to say with certainty who is the best team, that's irrelevant. You look at the resume and body of work this year. We all assume a 2 loss florida would probably beat Baylor and Minnesota, so we should rank them above Minnesota?

Those are valid points, but that logic could apply to a lot of other teams too other than LSU. Tough to use transitive property to too many degrees.

"trusting" shouldn't be part of it. Body of work and resume this year is all that should be considered, imo
