Not yet. We're recruiting well enough to start competing for championships, but even Dabo didn't begin his rise to dominance with top 5 classes every year... it takes some time, Pruitt's only finishing up his 2nd year.

Clemson recruiting each year
2009 - 36th (Dabo's first real class)
2010 - 27th
2011 - 10th
2012 - 20th
2013 - 15th
2014 - 16th
2015 - 9th (First National Title)
2016 - 11th
2017 - 16th
2018 - 7th
2019 - 10th
2020 - 1st

Pruitt's first class was 21st, then last year's was 13th, and he's currently at 20th in year 3. Still hasn't won as many games as Dabo did in year 2 either, so should just continue to build momentum as the wins start stacking up.
Clemson hardly ever misses on a player. They always give out the fewest offers and target guys they want regardless off ranking. Their defense this year has 0* Nolan Turner, 3*s Isaiah Simmons, James Skalski, Tanner Muse, and K'Von Wallace. The guys that they do get that are really highly rated almost always pan out. They dont have many busts.

There is a kind of VN connoisseurship -- or perhaps more accurately, not wholly un-amusing time suck -- wherein one who has multiple posters on ignore and witnesses a string of folks rebuking air, attempts to identify the miscreant without unblocking, relying solely on the content, tone, and number of the rebuttals.
Yeah, i was scratching my head, trying to follow this thread, but figured it was all the ignores I had

Hey, Freak, do I have the record for most folks on ignore? I will own it, if I do.

Don’t want to get roasted but concerned about recruiting which I know has been discussed. It’s like the last years of Dooley and Butch level...at least we now have a staff who can develop but it does look promising for 2020. Surprised we don’t have more JUCO on radar.

We may have some big things in the works. It stands to reason that everything is not broadcasted.

The real question is why Kent hasn't worked out.

He's likely transferring after this season, if he even wants to continue to play basketball. So that'll put us at 11 on scholarship for basketball if he's gone, of a possible 13.

With Bowden & Turner graduating we'll have 1 extra for the 2020 class, wonder if we sign another or look for a transfer?

We brought in a guard, Santiago Vescovi, who is originally from Uruguay and plays for the NBA Global Academy in Australia. He was on his OV on Wednesday night and would be eligible starting the spring semester. Someone from 247 said he would immediately be a top 100 player if he signed, but they don't rate international players until they sign. Rumors that he would be added if the OV went well.

Do you know how many years I see this comment around this time of year? Relax. Recruiting will be fine. We have only scratched the surface of what this staff can do recruiting wise. They started behind the 8 ball compared to what Dooley and Butch inherited. And that runs deeper than just what they had on the roster.

Can't blame him... with interceptions it's not always as clear cut whose fault it is. Very rarely is a fumble not obviously the fault of the ball carrier. The one exception is a QB being blindsided, but even then unless he's winding up for a pass and it's just perfect timing of the hit the QB should be able to hold onto the ball.

And maybe certain impacts. And I mean those where the RB/WR was lucky to keep feeling in his body, much less hold onto something like a ball.

When you hear the pads over a packed stadium..oof.

Would you count it as a miss if the player transferred? Also developing 3 stars and getting production in year 3 or 4 is kind of what we're trying to do now, not real sure your point.

I'm just saying you can build a championship team without being a top 5 recruiting class every year, Clemson and Oklahoma have done it.

Maybe Banks' ball security has improved... or can improve. We wouldn't know. Chandler fumbled twice in the first half of the GA ST game and sat the second half of the game. But he was given other opportunities and has shown he can protect the ball.

Given the opportunity, Banks can fix his issues-- all of them-- and be a better player and a better person. His teammates seem to like him, and his intensity and energy give the team a boost. I hope he earns his way back. JJ, George and Thompson have shown us that second chances can pay off for everybody.

Yeh, I’ve been following recruiting since around ‘07 and everyone said the same things in a few of our bad years. Have not been paying as much attention this year but dove in the last few days. Agree that we probably hear less now but momentum is just not there unless everything is completely under wraps.

I wasn't disagreeing with you.

A Taylor seems to be playing with more confidence the past 3 games or so. Not that we have played great passing offenses but he has a bit of swagger now...good for a DB.
I know a HS coach in middle TN who knows AT well...he said AT has been playing with some pretty bad hip pain. That was @ mid-season he told me that, and it had been affecting him since beginning of season. Makes you wonder if that was one of the reasons we were playing zone so much. Also, makes you wonder if he is finally a lot healthier the last few weeks and is why he’s starting to shine once again.

Lack of momentum with early signing period has me concerned. I have been following recruiting for 10+ years and see those comments too - it’s not an overreaction as I have seen this before. It seems we do not have the momentum with top 200 talent - we had it last year.

What I've heard as well. So he'd still count as a 2020 counter but be able to play this spring? Is it safe to assume he'd just redshirt so he could have a full 4 years?

NCAA just approved a transfer in bball to some kid that was dismissed at Arkansas to WVU....he was dismissed in August.
No reason given publicly as to why, so we can only guess, but if it wasn't bad or just disagreement with staff, etc, it could actually help the transfer imo.

You saw a similar scenario with Brenton Cox. The issue wasn't clear, but Smart quickly backtracked and said he was not dismissed. He didn't do this to help Cox and the Gators, but to hurt them. If the kid is denied a chance to play at his current school for some reason that isn't reasonable, then it could help his case. Smart was playing the narrative that Cox left on his own, thus lowering his chance of getting approved. May have also played this narrative to avoid having to say why he pushed Cox out of the program.

Either way, the kid has a chance to show he was denied a chance to play while never having broken any rules. This could also venture into the run off clause, which would be even more straight forward if the kid can show he was run off for personal or athletic reasons.

I don't know for sure, but there is some talk that they would play him off the bench to relieve Turner and Bowden.

A lot of players have been playing through nagging injuries. They haven't been 100% but are still finding ways to win. The bye week will help. But there's still the risk that injuries can be reaggravated and some guys are going to have to warrior through. We could be healthier this week than next, so we need to take care of business at Mizzou-- and I think we will.

You can really get your roster in a bind if you have too any players graduating the same year which happens if you sign too many JUCOs each year. You end up losing too many players for the recruiting cycles in the future years. One has to carefully plan ahead with your recruiting classes

Honestly, I don't care.

I think Banks got a ridiculous over the top knee jerk reaction because of social media and he's not a bad kid. I hope he gets a second chance and wherever he ends up I'll just be happy to see him on the field. The best thing for most of these young men is to be together with their team and coaches, for most the only people that truly care about them.
I am honestly surprised that there was not more to it. I was expecting something pretty bad to come out, and while what came out was not great, it did not warrant dismissal, IMO.

I understand the fine line between dismissed and the run-off clause, but I would say that if a kid was dismissed for any type of violation, then that does not help to get a waiver.

I didn't even know about that one. That's also really weird.

Horrible atmosphere? Can you elaborate? Was it at least loud?
I've never been to game in the minondome when it was loud. It was just not built for football, depending where you sat you may have had a blindspot with the railings and walls.
