One stat that I think is very impressive over our last 5 games.

the completion % have been held in check. 52.4% by Miss State, 54.9% by South Carolina, 46.7% by UAB, 57.1% by Kentucky. Gave up a lot of yards to South Carolina and Kentucky, I think USC just benefited from a few big plays in the 1st half and Kentucky had us at the worse time of the season having played 5 straight weeks in the meat of our schedule (Georgia & Alabama) we were just a bit more banged up and Bowden is really good as a runner.
Even then, we shut them out the last 3 quarters and blocked their PAT to end the 1st. We had 3 TDs reversed and still won.

I think it was the fact that it followed the BT incident that made it worse. Still suspended indefinitely would have been better.

And I think needing Banks this year, in turn, strengthened the decision. If that makes any sense.

If Pruitt allowed JB back when he needed him most, it looks more like a FB decision. But bowl game, fan confidence and hot seat all iffy, Pruitt still enforced the rules.

Now if Banks returns, you can scoff at the notion of it only being related to that stuff. It's 2nd chance, plain and simple.

My question is if the kid had gone to college elsewhere, would he have broken a rule? Or is it because he chose memphis and received money from a booster there?

I also wonder if the ncaa has any hard and fast definitions for making someone a booster. I mean, there surely has to be some sort of statute of limitations. Since they probably don't have these guidelines, I bet they felt the case was kind of weak anyway.

Overall though I just think it is stupid if Penny gets off completely free, considering he's now under the guise of the ncaa too and could be punished.
It’s an interesting situation. Muddled by the fact that the payment facilitated a change in High Schools.

Penny was classified as a “booster” because he made a 1 time donation a few years back, well before he was the Memphis coach.

To answer your question - I don’t think it would have been a violation if Wiseman had signed with Cal & Kentucky.

Because he ultimately signed with Penny & Memphis, it almost retroactively became a violation.

A lot of players have been playing through nagging injuries. They haven't been 100% but are still finding ways to win. The bye week will help. But there's still the risk that injuries can be reaggravated and some guys are going to have to warrior through. We could be healthier this week than next, so we need to take care of business at Mizzou-- and I think we will.
I guess that's literally every team the difference is we are thinner than most

Yeah I believe the donation was in 2008 or so. I'm curious at what point one is no longer considered a booster if they're not making consistent donations (I do find it a bit curious Penny hasn't been donating since, just 1 big lump sum and they never hit him up again?). If the donation was last year, then a huge penalty would be in store. It being 10 or 11 years I think is why the penalty was less severe. But what if it had been 20 years. Or 50? They have to draw up some guidelines here, otherwise it gets ridiculous if there is no statute of limitations.

Yes. Penny gave the mother $11,500 to move the family from Nashville to Memphis.

Penny was the coach at East, and Wiseman enrolled at East.

The TSSAA flagged it at the time and ruled Wiseman ineligible. They fought it in court, and played him anyway.

Yea, he made the one time $1M donation like 10 years ago.

The NCAA said that made him a “booster”.

It’s an interesting question though. Where do you draw the line?

Sounds familiar

You'd think someone who wasn't a complete idiot would pull Garrett aside and say, "What's done is done, you can only dig the whole deeper with trying to explain why you did it. Best move now is remorse and repentance."

I missed whatever is going on. May I please have the cliffs? TIA
