It's more of a lunch pail class than people wanted-- or expected-- but there are some big wins in this group. HB doesn't get the credit he deserves and UT landed some elite in-staters. Six SEC teams are recruiting in the Top 10-- and three of them are rivals we play every year-- so everybody knows where we need to be. We'll have to fix a few things to get there, but it's a good class with a lot of upside. And we're not done.

Beat Indiana like they owe ya money, and start out 2020 hot. If we upset OU in Norman and beat Florida at home, going into Alabama undefeated would put us into a very good position (obviously) for that 2020 class and future classes.

We'll have to take the next step on the field to push us back into that top 10 elite level classes again.

Owhh Lordy. Here goes 2020 predictions with lots of "ifs."

Until you star junkies learn that the recruiting services rank kids based on whether they attended camps, rumors of 40 times, and what they are told by the coaches of upper echelon teams, you're going to be upset with our recruiting. Recruiting services suck and I view them like I do the 1-800 psychics. The rankings used to be ok but over the years it's turned into more of a popularity contest. It's getting worse too.

Sure, I will agree that the very top of the rankings, the truly elite players, the top 20-30, probably are fairly accurate. After that it's a crap shoot. The different between a class ranked 8th, and a class ranked 15 is miniscule at best.

I get it, we want the "feels good" associated with a highly ranked class. I want the "feels good" of a highly ranked team. One doesn't necessarily translate to the other.

Preach. The problem is you will have to keep repeating the sermon over and over and over and over...

With quality QB play the current roster/team would have been 9-3 this season going into a bowl game. A win at the bowl would then bring a top 15 ranking. Clemson has won a NC with two of its 4 recruiting classes on a roster ranked outside of top 10. It's not the class ranking - it's the player upside and development while filling roster needs. The business aspect of the recruiting services gets in the way of their effort and honesty at times.

And re-evaluate our recruiters.

Hopefully, we get some surprises on Wed. Feeling very jittery.
It's crazy how we get so worked up over the decisions of 17-18 year old boys. He** when I was 17 years old I refused to go out with a beautiful girl, that for some crazy reason was attracted to me, because I hated her laugh.

too busy yelling at his mom for using water instead of milk in the mac and cheese she brought downstairs for him

And re-evaluate our recruiters.

Nieds, Ansley, YAC have appeared to be our strongest recruiters.

I think Tee will get back to his high level as well, he's been gone from the southeast for a bit. Didn't have to recruit this region much at USC for elite WRs. I think hearing "from the university of Tennessee" a few times during the draft this year will also be helpful moving forward.

Been saying this exact same thing for years, literally years. Got tired of posting it every year and just decided most people are addicted to it so I wasn't helping anybody see more clearly. But you are 100% correct.

Not worried about defense at all outside some depth concerns at LB. Staff has done a great job on that side of the ball.

I'm only not really sold on QB coaching (because JG hasn't taken a step forward) and RB coaching/recruiting. OL has improved but still lacking in run blocking.

We should be an 8-4 team next year imo

There is a ton of un or under-developed talent among the 3 stars. The question is not whether it is there or can be developed, the question is whether your staff is the one to do it. Only time will tell, but so far I like Pruitt's chances better than Butch's.

Yeah, just keep beefing up the lines and linebackers and we’ll be fine.

Seems like we’re struggling with top end skill position talent but luckily you can mask that with the big ole hogs.

Pretty fair. I think JG if he ever is/was going to turn any corner it'd be this upcoming year. Would be (assuming Chaney/Weinke remain on staff) the first time he's EVER had the same OC/QB coach for 2 seasons in a row.

RB coaching/recruiting doesn't concern me a ton. I'm not sure why Ty hasn't elevated, but saw good development in Jordan and Gray made some strides from where he started to where he ended the season. Expect that young man to elevate a lot with his first spring ball.

I'm pretty high on Hodge/Small with incoming as well...but agree we've not really been "in" on many elite RBs in the Pruitt era, as of yet.

And re-evaluate our recruiters.
I really don’t have much doubt about either Pruitt’s ability to evaluate or to close.

I do have doubts about the closing ability of some of the coaches on staff. I think it may put Pruitt a bit behind the eightball when trying to get a commitment from a blue chip. You heard smoke about Pruitt not being happy about how recruiting was going some weeks/months ago, so I hope he does an honest assessment about where the opportunities are in the staff - moreso than a routine year end review.
