There is a ton of un or under-developed talent among the 3 stars. The question is not whether it is there or can be developed, the question is whether your staff is the one to do it. Only time will tell, but so far I like Pruitt's chances better than Butch's.
Butch and company couldn't develop 5 stars....

It's more of a lunch pail class than people wanted-- or expected-- but there are some big wins in this group. HB doesn't get the credit he deserves and UT landed some elite in-staters. Six SEC teams are recruiting in the Top 10-- and three of them are rivals we play every year-- so everybody knows where we need to be. We'll have to fix a few things to get there, but it's a good class with a lot of upside. And we're not done.

You mentioned there will be some guys with expiring contracts. Do you expect any upgrades on the staff, or at least some better recruiters?

You keep circling back to recruiting rankings. If those kids are not developed, it will show. But 5 stars across the online, and 5 star backs and only 61 yards rushing.
First, you do realize that you're talking about 61 yards against a team with recruiting rankings of 3, 14, 8 and 5 over the past four classes? Second, if you are weak in the passing game any team that is the least bit comfortable playing man coverage is going to load the box and stuff the run.

Yeah, that’s a sucker bet right there.

With Tua Jr and Bear Bryant’s spawn redshirting this year, one Bama QB will enter the transfer portal in 2020.
Bama coaches aren't very high on Tua Jr from what I have read. All in on Bryce Young.

and you keep circling back to recruiting rankings. Lyle and company had a couple of top ten classes.....what happened there? Rankings only tell half the story. Hell, UGA had rankings of 6, 3, 2, 1....

Yep, I think we'll see some staff changes.

I am guessing Weinke...which is ok...I think Rocker is in the last year of his contract...he has proven he is a great developer but a recruiting liability. YAC is in his last year too but I really hope we keep him.
I know they are buddies but I wouldn't mind seeing Sherrer go. Has Rumph had any hits on the recruiting trail?

It is interesting, and I think the numbers probably hold true to this day.

Where I feel people may take these numbers too literally is...they take them as a whole and don't take the time to look at other information too.

I could very well be wrong. I honestly haven't researched it either. It just seems to me that those numbers aren't being looked at hard enough. How many of those 3*'s went to fcs schools? The overwhelming number I would guess. How many went to low tier fbs schools? Still the larger number I would guess.

The true answer to the question (imo) lays in the question...what is the percentage of 3*'s that make the big time that come from P5 Schools?
Now that is an excellent question that actually addresses the numbers and study.

There are 130 FBS football programs. That’s over 11,000 athletes at any one time. There’s roughly 3,000 players in each “class” that moves into the FBS as freshman each year.

Now there are only about 350 blue chips (4’s & 5’s) each year, the remainder are the 3’s & 2’s.

So it’s actually the 3 Stars that make up the overwhelming majority of the FBS.

Doesn’t answer your question of “high level” vs “low level” FBS. But the FCS doesn’t get many 3 Stars, the majority find homes at the FBS level.

Effing Mac Jones already in the list despite doing absolutely ish to be in that company. What a bunch of BS

You have got to be kidding me. I did not even realize who Mac Jones is until someone said Bama. I was like "Who is Mac Jones?", some running back in the MAC.

Jones two elite classes were imbalanced. He never built the lines up. He did bring in some great skill players without whom he never would've sniffed 9 wins.
