Come on man...you know he was the reason those boys are in the league..none of them were expected to be what they became..Barnes developed them.Absolutely. You could also spin his last two years as he had 2 x SEC POY & 2.5 NBA players and never won a conference tourney and had a sweet 16 & 2nd round exit.
That doesn’t mean those last two years weren’t incredibly fun. I would take them pretty much every year. But when you only look at the end of the years, we’ve underachieved.
Underrated post IMO.Under reported observation: Vols didn't take any JUCO players (and it doesn't appear that they will this cycle). I see that as confirmation that the staff likes the way the current roster has developed, and that they don't see a glaring hole in the roster that needs a stop-gap measure.
I love that u put banks on there like its settled.. i sure hope he comes backPossible Defense in 2021
DL: Garland, Harris, Emerson, Thomas, Bailey, Perry, Simmons, plus incoming Fr.
LB: TooToo, Banks, Peterson, Baron, Whitehead (I think he will end up here), Eason, French, Crouch, Joseph, Harrison, Beasley (If he stays at LB), Bennett will be a SR. and incoming Fr.
Secondary: Taylor, Thompson, Fields, McCollough, Burrell, Labruzza (Will be a Sr. I think and if he stays), Lawrence, Slaughter, McDonald, and incoming Fr.
That's elite
Put both in front of a chalkboard and Barnes runs laps around Pearl. Give both the same exact player and the one developed by Barnes is better in every facet. Win a hyped game or resurrect the concept of an organized circus and Bruce is the guy.
don't forget we still have solomon and we get gooden back on the DL.Possible Defense in 2021

Sure he helped but those guys were great players, it doesn’t matter where they are recruited. It’s like saying Khalil Mack wouldn’t Be in the league if he didn’t go to Buffalo. Great players will eventually find their way. They always do.Come on man...you know he was the reason those boys are in the league..none of them were expected to be what they became..Barnes developed them.
Never really cared for Bruce’s style of play once the tournament came around. I know he went really far last year but it always felt to me like his brand of basketball is solely dependent on the other team pissing down their leg due to the press defense.
In general I don’t like when your success is dependent on the other team performing poorly. I like to control my own destiny.
I don’t necessarily disagree - I don’t think he’s perfect in that regard either. Just think his style is more consistent for winning two or three games a week in a tournament setting. The evidence doesn’t necessarily support my argument, however. Then i can’t really see how you would prefer Barnes style of play bc he is widely regarded as one of the biggest tournament under achievers especially considering some of the talent he’s had.

I think Whitehead is a really nice prospect. We’ll see about Eason.
I don’t believe either are on the elite level of To’oto’o for us last year, or Sewell this year. Jmo.
Agree on Tate. He would have been an elite OT.
I think we got nice WRs & a nice RB (Small). But none that I would say are elite prospects.
All jmo.
Actually looks like some bumps happened after ESD. We now have all 3 ILBs in the top 15. Oregon (#1 & #2 ILBs), LSU (2 in the top 7) and Bama (2 in the top 8) are the only schools that have better ILBs this class.
So imo I'd say the 3 spots this class could still improve are:
OL - A 4 star OT would really be nice, but any good high 3 or 4 star additions would be welcome
WR/TE - putting this together because landing Washington would be enough imo
RB - I like both, but neither is truly "elite"
And then really best available after that, I think this 2020 class has a lot of DL talent so wouldn't be surprised if we're taking another 1 or 2 DL/OLB type guys
