Marino = Stafford

Tons of volume, low accuracy, tons of INTs, and a lack of durability the longer his career goes on.

You're way undervaluing Marino. I don't know how much you ever watched him play but the dude could thread a flying needle downfield off a lightning release. When he was working with good receivers like the Marks he was really hard to defend. He didn't need much of a window and he it was crazy to watch how quick he got the ball out once he decided to pull the trigger.

I love sports because end of the day, you can just look at the numbers sometimes. I am not a huge fan of debating "best" or "greatest" because there's too many parameters to truly, subjectively define. But you can look at the numbers side by side and when names are removed things are a lot different.

Per Game Starts
QB 1: 62.5% 275 yards 1.7 TDs 0.9 INTs
QB 2: 59.4% 256 yards 1.8 TDs 1.1 INTs
QB 3: 65.4% 270 yards 1.7 TDs 0.8 INTs
QB 4: 56.9% 223 yards 1.3 TDs 1.0 INTs
QB 5: 64.6% 265 yards 1.8 TDs 0.9 INTs

callahan on wnml right now, believes beckwith, hardy, and washington (assuming he's still available) are the three guys that will likely get hte most attention. says he thinks we do sign 25, nothing really on the last spot, may sign either or boht of the two guys that aren't signed, if it falls that way, and wouldn't exclude the possiblity of looking at a transfer, if they could be an immediate impact...didn't give any names on that front.

I feel like we need to take another OT

See, you're proving my point. I'm making no comment about Marino, I'm sharing his numbers/stats.

I mean I watched Marino play every Sunday for a good 6 or so years of his career. I didn't get to watch him in his prime, and I'm not saying he wasn't a great QB.

Buddy of mine texted saying there’s several threads on 247 speculating about Nieds leaving? Wtf?

What is wnml? Radio station?

Is there a podcast for people not in Tennessee?
they have an app, you can get it on apple or android. wnml the animal. and yeah, the do pod casts.

i'll just tell you off the bat, the only show i consider listening to is the ainge show from 9-12. i really can't stand the rest of the shows or personalities lol.

swain event is also avaialbe as an app and you can live stream his show from 7-10, and he has pod casts avaialbe too....104.5 in Nashville does, and if you're in to fox radio, fox sports knoxville also has an app.

as for pod casts...RTI, 247 and VQ all have pod casts you can subscribe to.

🤮

#5 is my second choice

I mean per game stats don't have a ton of separation, and the way the game has changed for secondary players with how games are officiated has helped the modern passing game. The top 8 all-time single season passing yards all happened this decade.

Peyton's per starts stats for example: 65.3% 272 yards 2 TDs 0.95 INTs

One reason I personally value completion % & TD/INT ratio so much. It's why I don't consider Favre on the same tier as Brees/Brady/Peyton/Rodgers. Why I have a hard time ranking Marino as high as some people do too.

Another thing Peyton has done that no one else has (yet, Brees has a shot to do it). Thrown for 4k+ yards in 3 different decades...

I don’t know about it “as a recruit”, but JG has had issues at this level. Bailey gets docked for his high end targets and that’s the flip side of the other coin. Gilbert and White get it fed to them so they can maximize the yards after the catch...that’s not a given for average quarterbacks. If the quarterback can make all the the throws, I don’t give a flip if the crosshairs tattoo the the target. And some posters on this board have had the same never boring refrain going for quite some while about decision making...another strength I perceive in our new signee.
I hope he walks on water... I've just progressively become more of a "show me" kind of guy.

2 threads. One is a guy worried because he hasn’t tweeted lately. Like 10 posts. Another is someone asking JAV if Nieds is leaving and he responded with “I have heard nothing that suggests that he's going anywhere. It's inevitable that other staffs will make a run at him solely because he's a great recruiter.”

So just the normal, people worrying for no reason.

Nieds is in a fantastic place to better his career. His HC and DC are two of the best defensive coordinators in college football. His OC is arguably one of the best to ever do it, and his AD is one of the top 10 head coaches in SEC history. He's coaching a position group, getting paid well and making a big time name as a recruiter for himself.

DWA will likely get drafted, Lowe is a 4 star recruit from last class that should be able to develop into a good TE and possible NFL talent. And if he lands Washington he'll have one of the most freak TE prospects to ever come to UT.
