I, almost never agree with @HankHill, but when I do, it's a damn good "take" like this. Great recruiters and motivators that coach one position extremely well and have learned to leave their coordinators alone, nailed it, imo

Hardesty on his last leg? Dude had 1700 total yards in the dog days of SEC and got drafted in the 2nd round. I’m not holding a grudge against Kiffin at all. His first year was mine as well in Knoxville at the time. He did some great things but also poor things too. I would grade his year here as a C+. The reason for kiffin disrespect is that he went on to prove to be more of the coach that got blown out by ole miss and beat by UCLA than the coach that fanned Georgia and South Carolina.

Hardesty was hurt and played hurt that year.crompton was finding his way for the first time.ole miss loss and UCLA were small set backs in my opinion considering he beat UGA when they were favored heavy...same with South Carolina..we had a lot of unknowns that year in a new system

Dooleys class 1st class (with partial help to LK on James and bray) was loaded with nfl guys that contributed right away. Almost beat LSU at the swamp and made a bowl game when our program literally felt to be imploding. That was a damn good year looking back on it all things considered.

I give Pruitt a worse grade than butch because our team never quit or lacked effort like they did for Pruitt.

You were around what made 1 bad season after 2 straight Top 25 rankings make UT just wipe there hands clean from inside the building. From everything I read most in the athletic complex really liked Butch. IYO
