Every fanbase says this about every coaching predecessor’s “culture.”

Seems like a stall tactic to give the current coach more time and leeway. And I think that’s probably a good thing.

You were around what made 1 bad season after 2 straight Top 25 rankings make UT just wipe there hands clean from inside the building. From everything I read most in the athletic complex really liked Butch. IYO

I would put all 4 of them at the bottom of the “worst assistant coaches we’ve ever had”. And i don’t think it’s possible to hire worse coaches than Wells and beard.

I think that was the biggest issue. The Haney article brought out a different butch where he became stupid level micro manager. When butch first got here and for the most part the dude was a recruiting psycho. Our coaches spent more hours in the office and on The road year round than they do now. Basically all butch did was recruit and coach special teams and that actually worked out pretty well. Hell he spent more time with the VFL films guys sometimes the actual coaches. But Around the time the Haney article got going he tried to control every (literally every) aspect of the program.

Then you don’t survey the field and see what the defense is doing at snap? When a defender blitzes you have people open.

His reads were to his right and he is right handed. You want a qb to frantically look 180 degrees every play to look for a blindside blitz, then start reading his progressions on the complete other side? That wouldn't be good football.

I don’t believe anyone ever said such a thing when Kirby stepped into UGA or Zook/Urban/Muschamp/Sharkey/Mullen stepped into Florida. Things get rolling there quickly bc 1. Their ADs have the balls to fire a dead coach walking and 2. None of the preceding coaches were near as bad as what we’ve had here. Lyle’s catastrophes are well documented. The damn dude didn’t even make our players hit the gym. Queue the Rucker tweet!

So everyone can get the “First year head coach pass” but not kiffin?..lol how many coaches have we let start out here at “year zero”..Rico was hurt...hardesty was on his last leg...new systems on both sides of the ball and the defense learning of the infamous “Tampa 2” from the original founder..I’m sure it was a huge change overall..no matter who he had..Butch had all of the weapons in the world..but lost to Oklahoma..bama..Florida I mean it goes on...no need to hold the grudge on him for a life time.he was young.

I'd grade Kiff, Butch, and Pruitt hires as fine.

Dooley hire was and always will be completely inexplicable and inexcusable. 4-8 La Tech coach? WTF? What the hell did he do to even land on a single DA's radar?? Incomprehensible! Still makes me mad just thinking someone could be so dumb as to hire that bum.

No thinking or context is included here. The person is just doing a raw evaluation of paper talent, adjusted for experience, as a baseline for further analysis, which is not done here.

Offense: 3rd down efficiency. We need to keep the ball and pound away
Defense: eliminate “chunk” plays.
ST: Lean on this more. We have weapons in special teams. Sometimes I think we get to overconfident on 4th down.

I think Floridas receiver are better than ours. Outside of Jennings I think our receivers are kind of overrated. Callaway makes big plays but goes games where you dont know he is on the field. Palmer is slightly above average.

Florida has Jefferson, Grimes, Swain, and Toney (who is luckily hurt).

So what happens if we lose - or lose big? Is it coaching?

And it’s probably not wrong.

Kirby has benefited off greatly off what Richt built. I always said the second Georgia fired him, we should’ve canned lyles ass and hired him.

Uga lost to every good team they played last year besides Florida. Got fanned by LSU and texas too.

I don’t disagree that Richt left a really talented roster. He did.

But my point is that every new head coach has to implement a new “culture.” That’s why they were hired - usually because the last guy wasn’t getting the job done so the administration decided to switch things up.

The ultimate point is that the truly good-to-great coaches get their culture implemented more quickly than bad coaches.

Kiffin had to implement a new culture because Fulmer let the program stagnate. Dooley was then hired to “fix” the culture issues Kiffin left. When Butch was hired one of the biggest things he had to do was turn over a “losing” culture. Now that Butch is gone, Pruitt has to do the same thing.

These are all correct assessments. The speed at which a coach can get all 85 players swimming in one direction has a direct correlation to how successful they will be. Losing to Georgia State, BYU and Vandy wasn’t about talent. We have way more talent than all those teams. It’s about “culture” and getting everyone on the same page.
