I'm just messing with you. Big Newt is notorious for not believing kids have to be from Tennessee.
Hey "drv" thanks for the exchanges. I really do enjoy when I am taken to task. As you can tell by most of my post, I am a true to the bone Tennessean. I will nearly always support Tn and is't people to a fault. However, GO VOLS is on top of my list of sports teams

So with all of this momentum, we are getting a ton of skill players/speed/rushers... Where do we stand on picking up some serious beef on the D line?

Biggest concern for this season outside of QB is who is going to line up next to Henry T. Really wish Lewis was here now.

AV mentioned that we have a shot at Mondon. With it looking like Willis is on board, are both a take or is it first come first serve? I thought I had read that we may only take 3 LB's this cycle but I may have been mistaken. Seems like both would have a spot if both wanted in.

Both and maybe even one more like Brown or Colson.

it's gotta be JJP or Crouch right?
It's either them or its Freshman Eason. That's a big concern. We're replacing the leader of our defense with inexperience. JJP has yet to show anything at all, Crouch hasn't played much ILB period, even in high school. And Eason is a freshman. I'm glad we have Henry, but if I'm looking for most concerning position outside of QB, its that. We have no experience next to Henry T this fall. Hopefully Crouch gets over his injury and gets ready to go.

Henry T. was learning from Bituli and the coaches last year and we even lining guys up at the end of the year when Bituli wasn't in. This will be his defense this year and with his ability and leadership I wouldn't mind Eason being next to him (assuming Eason comes in, works hard, and impresses). I agree it will be a raw group, but I do not think it will be a under-talented group by any means.

i think the the absence of spring is a big deal for the development of osme of these guys, so i agree with you. we have some names that we should be able to count on, but no practice, no summer.....

what these kids do on their own to get ready for fall is huge. especially a kid like Eason.

if for no other reason than experience, i'd have to think JJP and Crouch are the two that SHOULD make the most sense. but we'll see. it'll be new to them too in some regards.

Yea I agree he’s getting a bump with those factors but not to the degree to say those recruits are “scared to leave home” or “that isn’t recruiting”. That’s crazy.

Unc should never be anywhere close to the top 5 in recruiting under any circumstances.
I took it as a reference to COVID recruiting and how many analysts have spoke about more players staying in state this class. Regardless, NC has a ridiculous amount of talent this cycle, and Mack would be an idiot to not take advantage of it. He's got a ring, he's got a stud QB to sell, and he can sell the whole "who's going to knock off the king" in that conference. FSU and Miami being down has opened the door for him.

Don't underestimate Neids being their coach now either.. Remember he coached LB's at Bama when Pruitt was DC..
