It should go without saying that we all hope that doesn’t happen, but I don’t know how Fulmer wouldn’t step in at that point.Ugh. This conversation has me circling back to the idea that we're just stuck with no way out. Pruitt absolutely needed those GSU and BYU games. Absolutely had to have a bowl appearance this year to keep things moving forward. 1-7 is very realistic and terrifying, because Pruitt will look like a stone cold loser to everyone in America.
Not sure where we would go from there. Roster would be only slightly better in 2020, especially if HB isn't the stud everyone thinks he is. Then we miss another bowl game, the roster is in atrocious shape, and the Dave Doerens of the world don't even return Fulmer's phone calls.
2nd day? Ha.I can't believe y'all are letting Kingston ruin this thread for a second day in a row. On Florida week. I'm out guys. Let me know when its safe to come back. I ain't got no time for trolling today.

People are misplacing his loyalty, I think. Of course he wants Pruitt to succeed. Doubly so because he handpicked him. But Phillip Fulmer’s only loyalty has been, and always will be, the University of Tennessee. He’ll do whatever he thinks would help the program.
The fact of the matter is Tennessee football and Tennessee basketball are polar opposites in this regard: football has higher expectations than the program warrants. Basketball has lower expectations than the program warrants.
Tennessee football is probably what, the 5th or 6th best job in the SEC? Tennessee basketball is 2nd or 3rd in the SEC.
And remind you that they've said that 1000 times but neglect to mention the other 10 where they say Fulmer is about to take over. No agenda. At. All....2nd day? Ha.
I open the thread each morning knowing which 3 or 4 will already have been hard at work.
The only question being technique. Full blast insult mode or
"hey, I'm with you guys. Really like Pruitt, shame he sucks and will be fired. Everyone doing ok today?"
Wasn't a huge deal until he went out there and lied yesterday. I don't care either way but he should have just kept his mouth shut.
The good news is with Fulmer, Randy Boyd and Charlie Anderson at the helm, money and funding won’t be a problem going forward. We’re going to get this figured out - the only question I have is how quickly and who will be the head coach when it happens.Yeah, it really seems like Pruitt getting fired = Fulmer stepping in, unless Pruitt somehow stabilizes things for 4-5 years and gets fired with a decent roster built up. If it happens at the end of this season (unlikely regardless of W/L record) or next, the job may be toxic enough that Fulmer will be the only realistic person to handle it.
If that does happen, do you think Fulmer has the energy to do the job properly? i.e., adhere to a hellacious recruiting trip schedule?
Pruitt on Vol calls: “I hate Florida.”
I prefer full blast insult mode........................2nd day? Ha.

I seriously question the intelligence of a person who thinks Fulmer would actually step in and coach. If that even is remotely possible then Fulmer has some serious delusions of grandeur issues. If he cares about Tennessee like we all know to be true, you can forget that as a possible outcome.
