I agree, but that's not the narrative being told by some people outside the program. Some believe he purposely interfered with Currie trying to hire Leach and that he was making a move to get the AD job. I don't care what happened, we all know it was best for our program. But his previous "backstabbing" of Johnny was used to create a similar narrative.
And he’s solidly entrenched as AD, properly valued by the people who matter.

curious to see what happens with us once tests start coming back. i think it''ll wind up being more prevelant than not, at least for most teams to have reported cases, regardless of the # of cases.

Season will be canceled before Thanksgiving. Book it!

JG still QB and people predicting wins over Bama, FL, Georgia, or OKLA. 😆
I'm not sure JG can win at SC

Just win the games you're supposed to and go 8-4 or 7-5. HB takes over in 2021 and Vols win 9 maybe 10 games

All these players showing up with corona shows that this virus isn’t bad for healthy people. They didn’t even know they had it 😂

Just so sad that we live in a world run by little beta men and wussies that freak out over every single thing that is perceived as bad. Bad things are going to happen. It’s an inevitability. Same is true for good things. It’s the yin and yang you stupid sons of *****es

I’m sitting here reflecting on Johnny, and it brings me to probably the most polarizing topic of UT football for anyone over 35. Here’s the question I know everyone’s been asked:

“Are you a Johnny guy or a Phil guy?”

In this binary world that we live in (true especially today), you were almost forced to pick a side. Both sides had the perfect villain: a drunk in bad health who was polarizing to anyone around him or a scheming, backstabbing, coup leader whose only desire was to take control. In reality, neither absolute was true, but both men probably made a mistake or two they wish they could have back.

Isn’t it like that in our lives? We all have mistakes in our lives, yet we need forgiveness the same that we need to give forgiveness.

I never have been a Johnny guy or a Phil guy. It’s always saddened me to see and hear of the divide. Now we have a situation where it’s too late for reconciliation. In mourning the loss of Johnny, may we all do our best to look inside and see where you need forgiveness and seek ways to give forgiveness before it’s too late. Let this be our tribute to Johnny, yet with a far greater purpose in mind beyond just him.

Great post. That's why I always say in response I am a Vol guy. To me, the program is and will always be bigger than any coach or player or group of players.

As an example I was as angry as I could be when Tony Robinson flamed out after his knee injury and got caught dealing drugs. He had everything to be a great pro. His life spiraled down for years. I had to get over MY disappointment and be more concerned about Tony, the person, and his recovery from his disappointments and addiction. When he had recovered enough physically and emotionally, who was there for him to welcome him back into the Vol family 5 years ago? Yeah, Johnny. Johnny's acceptance opened the door wider for all of the program and fanbase to welcome Tony back. It was and is beautiful to see.

So many people gave up on Tony and dismissed him because of the bad choices he made. So many people gave up on Johnny during his tough years and actually, some bad choices he made that led to his termination. So many people gave up on Phil and some bad decisions he made that resulted in his termination. Yet, in the end they were forgiven as people and all are honored by Vol faithful. The good of the program has to come first.

Let's have this conversation again. It's not necessarily bad for 20 year old athletes. But it can severely affect someone who is 50, 60+. There are numerous important people in a high level football program who are either older or are obese. These people probably would prefer not getting the corona virus. I guess you can tell them to stay away, but then you have people like Nick Saban, or even Jim Chaney having to stay away. That isn't even discussing administrators who make the program go round and round.

Look, I want football. I'm not advocating for a stoppage whatsoever. I am also 40 and can handle being out. But, the point of it all was prevention. Sports don't necessarily have to be played, and there are some liability issues, too.

As I have said before: yes, bad things happen to people. But I prefer to look both ways crossing the street instead of just blindly walking. I have a better chance of not getting hit if I look both ways.

Why is this still a talking point? Literally no one would argue the virus is bad for the vast majority of healthy people. It’s the ability to spread the virus that is bad. Which can lead to the spread to the immunocompromised or elderly, populations where the virus can be quite deadly.

Before responding to this, know that I’m not saying we shouldn’t have sports or economies shouldn’t be open, etc.

I’m simply pointing out that you’re arguing against a point that no one is arguing for
