This was supposed to respond to @peaygolfAgkistrodon piscivorus - cottonmouth.
The pixelated "hershey kiss" pattern distinguishes it from a copperhead, which is a close relative (same genus). As cottonmouths age they mostly lose this pattern and get darker. When juveniles they very closely resemble their cousins. Can't see the head in this picture, but would expect it to have a scale above the eye (like a mean-mugging brow) and a dark band across the eye. This is definitely not a Nerodia (watersnake genus).
I received a minor in wildlife biology at UT, I assist the Miss State herpetologist in my free time, and I am a hobbyist herpetologist.
Where was this snake located?
Trouser snake imoAgkistrodon piscivorus - cottonmouth.

Coach Duggs is coming back for another year so we get 1-2 more weeks of free publicity.
Yeah I feel like I’ve been on less as well.@Bassmaster_Vol and @InVOLuntary MIA also
I love having everyone back to arguing what position players will play. Almost feels like football time in Tennessee!
