So I'm randomly perusing 247...

I know its a given that Bama cheats....but its crazy to look at the 247 rank of top recruiters and Bama usually has a couple in the top 5 every year...yet when they leave Bama they all of a sudden drop off the rankings and forget how to recruit at a high level.

There has been some serious bagman work being done during the Saban era.

Damn to be a UT fan.... We live through Kiffy, Fooley, and Lyle, (and several short-bus AD's, Admin, and boosters trying to sabotage progress and hope along the way), watching each one slowly do his part in dismantling our program from the glory days piece by piece.... We have to basically start a riot in order to keep another idiot from taking the reins, and finally get the AD and Head Coach this program and University needs and deserves... Talent and great coaches start coming in to compliment our HC and progress... We all are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel... but we just can't seem to reach it... A sinlge shadow keeps us from getting to that much needed light every die-hard VFL wants, needs, and craves... we think we are there, but the shadow keeps putting up just enough darkness to keep us from the light...that shadow is wearing a #2 jersey and goes by JG... until that shadow finally fades out and disappears, we are never going to truly get to see and enjoy the light.

If they have 53 guys available to them they should play the game. Jmo
i think the issue is contact tracing and the time it takes to gather all the needed info. absent that info, they'll postpone, cause they just won't know if htey have 53 available or not.

but the SEC did set forth some rules on #'s of players, by position, that would be required to continue with a game as currently scheduled.

The whole state’s involved. Banks, bureaucrats, private corporations. It’s a scene man.

He called me a clown because I responded to him enjoying UGA winning after one of his emotional posts. I think I need to avoid game threads because people overreact so much. Probably not healthy.

I used to get so emotional watching UT football games. But the BVS has made me feel slightly indifferent and without strong emotions for the last decade. But that game against Georgia was similar to how I felt a few times in 2015 and 2016, so I know we’re going in the right direction.

i think it's a bit unfair to put all of that on his shoulders. actually it's totally unfair. lol. and that doesn't mean i think he's great/good or anything of the like.

it does mean that as a program, we've not put ourselves in a position where you can be defficient at key spots, like QB, and overcome that defficiency....today, i do think he's the biggest defficiency we have....but he's not the only one, and he surely isn't the only one we've had the past few years....

we're kinda in a purgatory of sorts.....not nearly as bad as we were 2+ years ago (we have seen progress, definiltey)...but still a long way from where we want to be....

the scary thing for us as fans is we know that from where we are in this current version of the development of the program right now, the fall back is a much easier trip than the climb up...hence the anxiety on display with any/every loss, and any/every recruit that decides to go elsewhere.

Interesting quote from JG I found from Ubben's UGA article on Monday:
“I’m sick to my stomach,” Guarantano said. “This was one of my last opportunities to (play against) Georgia, and I couldn’t get the job done with the win. I wish I could take some things back and we could go win this game and fix some things. But the game is over.”
Notice "one of my last" and the plural "opportunities". He's coming back, folks.

At his current age and lack of major improvement, I doubt he’s considered an NFL prospect, much less a CFL prospect. He loves playing the game, and I admire that. I’d expect him to play next year, whether it’s with UT or as a grad transfer elsewhere.

Man, I was settling in for the latest chapter in the Shadowman saga. I guess Shadowman is not subject to the confines of the space time continuum, so I guess JG could be Shadowman. In the immortal words of cheggerboard Bob, “what a turn of events.”

The whole state’s involved. Banks, bureaucrats, private corporations. It’s a scene man.

Not only that, but the coaches they bring in aren't that great at recruiting before they get there either, and most if you look at their resumes don't have any experience in the south. No existing relationships with HS coaches etc...

They are literally at the top of the recruiting ranking only for the time they are at Bama, and are medicore at best when not.

It is literally a full-on bagman operation down there that operates with impunity.

DM:

JG played 10 pretty darn good quarters

JG is the QB unless he gets hurt

JG played pretty darn well that first half at Ga

let’s face it Peyton Manning wouldn’t have played well against that pass rush in the second half

sorry guys another high level coach doesn’t see what all you guys see.

Yep we are behind in recruiting. Need that generational QB that keeps eluding us.
Need to prove we have an OLine that can protect said generational QB along with proven ability to develop the QB position to keep them from eluding us. Hopefully Bailey or Salter will be the difference maker and get the ball rolling. Until then, we watch and we pray lolol.

Both teams are very good. The Bills were without some very key defensive players that should return soon. Matt Milano would have had coverage duty on Jonnu Smith, who torched the Bills for 2 TDs, and Tre'Davious White, the All-Pro corner missed, as well. Bills had trouble in coverage all night. Josh Allen was not the player he had been thru the early part of the season, and the Titans defense came to play.
The Titans were missing Corey Davis and Adam Humphries

Maurer was a freshman. JG is a 5th year senior and turned the ball over constantly last year and just had 3 in one game this year

I can’t find the stats for fumbles lost in 2019 but Jg threw 8 INTs in 275 pass attempts.

Maurer threw 5 INTs in 75 pass attempts.

BM was a Fr but he did turn the ball over at a much higher rate. In terms of INTs at least.

But that sample size for BM is much too small to make any definitive statements imo
