At least in regards to defense, the Kentucky game was much more disturbing for me than the Alabama game yesterday. Granted Waddle was out so its not exactly apples to apples, but that Alabama team dismantled a Georgia defense which is substantially better across the board than Tennessee's - so in that regard I understand giving up 41 points (7 were on a scoop and score). Kentucky scored 17 points in the second half and frankly pushed the defense around - that should never happen.

That just makes us sound like Kentucky fans.

I agree with you here, for sure. Maurer gave us a bit more of a spark. JG made some good throws but if we’re being honest with ourselves, that’s his throw. He’s made it a million times and that’s likely the throw they see him make in practice frequently, hence why he starts week in and week out. The run game, when everything was blocked well, actually looked pretty good against a team full of talent on that side. I truly think we’re a class away from at least being more of a threat to these upper tier teams. We’ve all just got to be more patient. The man has basically only had 2.5 classes and that first as we all know was a patchwork because of the time of year we let Lyle go. I’d be much more concerned if this is still happening later into next season. Then the seat should start getting warm

Just clarification: timing had to do with our coaching search. Butch was fired with about 3 games left in the season. But your pint remains because I think it was the first year of early signing day.

Would’ve, should’ve, could’ve work about as good as firing your head coach 2 1/2 years in
**** in one hand and wish in the other and see which one fills up quicker
As a fan base we need to settle down some, myself included, we’re not helping matters especially with recruiting running down to Neyland Stadium with pitchforks trying to fire the head coach.

He needs two more years, at worst the roster will be 10 times more talented if he’s let go

Ride it out , our team was completely ****ed when he took over and no, nobody was obviously knocking down the door to come coach here.

We’re already in much better shape then we were with bitchboy Jones.
you can stay the ****ing course or fire the coach and set us back another four or five years

If you don’t like it stop watching

GoVols!

He won’t be fired this year because of the lack of money, but he doesn’t need 2 more years with how horribly undisciplined we look.
also how are we better off now than with Butch? Year 3 we were competitive with everyone on our schedule.

And by year 5 we went winless in the SEC.

We’re better off bc we’re bringing in more and more SEC caliber players. If Pruitt can’t get it rolling in the next couple seasons, we’re gonna be a in a pretty good spot roster wise for the next HC.

For our program, it's quite possible, and every time we play musical chairs and replace one unproven head coach with another unproven head coach, the wait gets longer.

We're not hiring Hugh Freeze. Just not happening. We won't hire a name coach. All the evidence we need is in every coaching search since Fulmer was let go. Firing Pruitt right now to replace him with another unproven coach would hurt us far more than just keeping Pruitt. Even if he's not the guy, we're better off waiting until his buyout is far less. It'll help us financially, and it doesn't continue the existing narrative that we don't give coaches enough time. Coaches are aware how impatient our fanbase is, and that's another obstacle for us in hiring.

Firing coaches always comes down to a spreadsheet. When it becomes cheaper to fire and pay the buyout that's when the coaches get fired (unless it's a "for cause" situation). When revenue drops to a point where it is more than the buyout amount that's when they get fired. If the buyout is $4mil, and ticket revenue drops by $4mil it starts to become cost effective to make the move.

$4mil really isn't a huge number of tickets either. If the average price of a ticket is $60 and you have 8 home games and you lose 10,000 in ticket sales (roughly 10% of our capacity), that's $4.8 million in lost revenue. That doesn't take I to account donations, and concessions.

I'm not advocating firing Pruitt. I've said multiple times I like the guy. I said last year after the start I didn't think he was ready for a job this big and I still believe that. The learning curve is steep in this conference and I don't think Tennessee should be the training grounds for head coaches.

I don't think Pruitt cares much about this season. I think he's using this season as a bunch of scrimmages. I especially believe that after watching his post game presser. He knows this year is a free pass. Next year will be a make it or break it year. Watch recruiting. If it starts falling off, that will signal the beginning of the end. All JMO.

this
Without Dobbs butch wouldn’t have won 4 games a year
Pruitt can win with a ****** QB atleast

I thought Ansley and Pruitt were supposed to be these great Defensive minds that made Bama so good? Where'd that go? Guess it means they are just as good as the players they have on the field. I guess anyone can make a bunch of 5* defensive freaks look good and they haven't actually had to COACH up kids on Defense in a long time.

Losing to Georgia after handing them their hat at the goaline in their house and then losing to Kentucky at home will get the fahr heem crowd out.

I like Pruitt but his ride or die attitude with JG is troubling. On the surface it appears his terrible decision making and ball security has taken the wind out of the team's sails. Fair or not that defense that stuffed UGA has disappeared.
