I thought Ansley and Pruitt were supposed to be these great Defensive minds that made Bama so good? Where'd that go? Guess it means they are just as good as the players they have on the field. I guess anyone can make a bunch of 5* defensive freaks look good and they haven't actually had to COACH up kids on Defense in a long time.
Defense is overrated right now. The game is all about scoring points. Look what Bama did to UGA and all their 5*. Pruitts biggest worry needs to be the offense. It also doesn’t help our offense has allowed the opposition to score 24 points against them in the last two games.

This is exactly what I’ve been thinking the last two weeks. It’s not the only issue, but it’s a massive one. Look how tough UT looked in 2018 vs. Kentucky compared to last week.
It's not like anyone was working out on campus with staff for a long time though either. S&C was a lot more dependent on the players this year.

I think we've looked fine, though not great. Not 2015 when we were toe to toe with bama in the trenches it looked.

I can’t tell you what the issue is this year, especially on the backend. But all you have to do is watch his calls on the sideline and Cole Cubelic’s analysis in his first two years as to whether or not he knows what he is doing.

Alabama’s defense this year shows you that not just anyone can coach a bunch of 5 stars. Alabama fans would welcome Pruitt back in a heartbeat.

A JG problem, then a coaching problem for keeping him in, then a coaching and player problem when they gave up and rolled over.
As a former D1 "athlete" if you need a coach to avoid rolling over, that's on you as a man.

JG problem is a player problem so yes but by the time a coach can pull, the player problem (rolling over) was in session. I'm not saying coaches aren't to blame. I just place significantly more on the players because it was an attitude and effort issue out there. No leadership to grab JG by the helmet and lay into him by any players. On the flip side very little encouragement by players.

Two Weeks to get better
Hire a DL Coach. LBs improve pass coverage. Shore up the middle of the field in Pass Defense either by scheme or better technique.
Put Coach Chaney on notice regarding opening up Offense. Teach the RBs to pick up their dadgum feet. QB, fill in the blank.
As Coaches, put a positive spin on expectations for the last 5 games and find things to build positive momentum. Most of all, hold on to your RECRUITS.

Apologies if this has already been discussed but why haven’t we seen Beckwith at all?
Ankle injury definitely, but also probably hasn’t been practicing to the standard of this coaching staff yet… Hasn’t logged enough practice time to deserve playing, although he is bigger, faster, and stronger. You know, those type things.

Alabama’s offense is the biggest reason their defense has taken a hit. They play a different game now.

They have had 3 years to find a serviceable replacement or improve him enough to make him serviceable . It’s the coaches fault.

Some of you guys are missing the point regarding Pruitt. The reason he's not showing lots of emotion, on the sidelines, is because of that damn mask. I think it's messing him up. Free the man and let him coach without that damn mask.
Yeah- emotion is what’s wrong. Not the wrong QB, a defense that can’t/won’t tackle, or the play calling.

I don’t believe it’s that big of a difference. Tua was running up and down the field, and they still had better defenses. But you aren’t going to give Pruitt any credit, so it’s fine.

What should he get credit for? Having a good defense with a dozen+ nfl players and saban helping install the defensive gameplan? Yea that’s fair. I’ll give credit where credit is due.

Exactly, every coach in the world is considered great when they have superior athletes. Until we get to that level of 2 deep superior talent, we're just gonna be another run of the mill SEC team.
