I guess it’s ok to get blown out three weeks in a row? And everyone will still be around. Some just don’t like to pretend everything is all sunshine and rainbows when things are going bad.
lmao, It's always interesting to see who gets offended when you mention the miserable. I've said on numerous occasions it's okay to criticize. There's a big difference between truthful criticism and pure misery.

He’s not getting another extension. He has two classes of his own and one coming up that is looking pretty good and why extending was done. To get back we need Jimmy and Joes and that is area this staff has done well. The extension allows others to not negatively recruit against our HC. Only way to possibly make it out of this is to stack 4 outstanding classes and get depth for CJP to perform with or the next coach who will not have a total rebuild. However, will be interesting how one free transfer will kill a program if they do fire a coach who kids came to play for. If they transfer in a flood, then you may never recover. We will be stuck with Pruitt for a minimum of 5 years. Have to hope he gets it.

Above is where I am at this morning. Weekends are for venting about crap and Monday is where you have to consider what is best when making decisions with long term impact.

I wouldn’t use NIx as an example of what we want to happen

Perhaps if nix has sat and Learned by watching he’d be better Today
Nix's team did beat Bama when he started as a freshman. This is an absolute "strange" season with lack of practices in the spring. That is why HB needs to get on the field. You learn way more on the field than watching from the sidelines.

Agreed for 21 of the 22 Positions but that’s not always true for QB. That year Mahomes sat and watched for the chiefs was huge and I’d say the same can be said for Tua at Bama. Jones at bama is another great example of sitting and learning

You must have this forum confused with something else. Your sound reasoning and logic do not comport with this environment.

I've come to the conclusion he's looking at this year totally different than us fans. He's willing to sacrifice this year to continue to instill his philosophy for next year and beyond. He is making his players earn it through their work ethic Sunday-Friday. I really don't think he gives a dam about this year. This is a 10 game scrimmage for him. You could tell it by the game plan against Alabama.

And truthfully, though you want to win every game now, I would prefer him think long term and focus on creating a culture. Talent wins games. Culture wins titles. Let’s let him build and see where we are in a couple years.

i'm not advocating firiging anyone....but to this point here, if i were, then my first repsone is "then quit telling us you're playing the kids that give us hte best chance to win, and play more kids so they're developing for next year."

so, basically, i don't think he's treating it as scrimmages, otherwise, we'd see a lot more guys getting reps. especially in garbage time the last two weeks.

i don't have a problem staying true to your core beliefs/philosphies on building a program.

but, imo, i think "earning it" can be done in different ways....
Not disagreeing. Like I said, I think he looks at it differently. Sure he's said he's playing the players that give him the best chance to win. But is that a win on Saturday or is that future, long term success?

Take JG for instance. Maybe Bailey and the rest of the QB's aren't working like JG in practice. Maybe he's trying to teach them that putting in the work will pay off. It has to be earned.

barring something off the field that would have expedited a firing, i think it's safe to assume Pruitt was gonna get 5 years....

coming in to 2018, 1st year of the ESD, basically made recruiting that first class a nightmare, as we found out.....so you're talking at least 3 years, w/2full cycles to start to see the pruitt players in the program.

here we are.

at least another year to get his classes to upper classmen...and year 5...that's a "pruitt built" program at that point....

2020 was a bad year to be in year 3. lol....such a critical off season developmentally....and switching to the all conf schedule, kinda sucked in that we missed some confidence builder type games, and i think we missed an opportunity to go to Norman and see what we got for a big game on the road....who knows.

anyway...........we need a quarterback. we need some stability on the staff. and we need to find a way to get more guys more reps so we can improve depth and find kids that can help us win...faster.

i see a lot of phil fulmer in jeremy pruitt. some of that is really good. some of it, not as good.....but one thing i think he can do to help himself is not get caught in the "we do what we do" mentality.

for us, as fans, unfortunately, there was no quick fix....no easy button, and for this program to turn a corner as big as it needs to, that is going to be the result of a process......which im fine with.

that doesn't mean i like what i see along the way all the time. i've liked a good bit of what i've seen so far. i've not liked much of what ive seen latley at all....

i'll be really surprised, and very disappointed, maybe even moreso than i am right now, if we see what we've seen so far repeat itself the 2nd half of the season. i think the hill to climb is still pretty steep. and with @Auburn, aTm and UF still on the schedule......the chances it gets worse, before it gets better...still pretty high...

that said, that kind of schedule also offers redemption....even moreso than the redemption they earned the 2nd half of last season.

and it starts in Fayetteville, AR.

i think that's exactly what he's doing, in regards to reps. and i think that applies all over the roster, not just QB.

And I think he's doing that at the expense of this season.

edit: i don't have a problem with the "earn it" philosophy. but when results matter, especially in terms of what and how you're selling yourself and the program, i think you can define 'earn it' all sorts of ways.

if it were me, i'd want options. feels like he's pigeon holing himself in to a set of absolutes. that was one of the fulmer things i didn't like...fulmer was like that....to a degree, you have to be like that...so i get it.

just can't put yourself in a box....w/only 1 way out of it, imo

Lol! You sound like someone who can’t have a conversation without throwing jabs to try and get your point across. Yesterday you called people insane because they didn’t agree with you. Now you are saying that I’m offended and miserable. Not offended at all. I am for sure not miserable, it’s a sport and I would stop watching if it made me miserable. I think we need both sides. We don’t need everyone saying everything is fine when it isn’t, we also don’t need everyone saying the sky is falling because it isn’t. And just because you post something does not mean it is truthful and factual and everyone else is wrong. It is your opinion just like everyone else has one.

I can see it both ways. If younger guys that are bigger and faster can’t scheme correctly and repeatedly miss assignments, then yea, he has a point. If not, then it’s an issue.
The one clear message it sends is early playing for recruits isn’t a given which has been a strong point of Tennessee’s recruiting pitch the last few years.
The ones that are out there playing now are missing assignments. There is no reason why a safety leaves the middle of the field wide open on a deep pass.

Tua wasn't sitting to learn, he was just behind Hurts. When Hurts was struggling Saban didn't hesitate to pull him for the FR.

There are lots of recent examples of true FR that excelled right away at QB. Watson and Lawrence at Clemson, Slovis, Ehlinger, Howell.

Its not like it used to be with QBs. Most of these guys have had QB coaches since they were little and they play in much more advanced offenses in high school than they ever did before. Lots of them are prepared to come in and play right away.
