These posts are such skewed bias clouded by what people want to see happen. And trust me I understand the frustration. But the QB that gives UT the best chance at winning is who they are sending out there. And if one of the other QBs might do better if they play it is not a 4 TD difference. That is just stupid. If you are of the opinion that you want to see another QB because you are tired of seeing JG then that is completely understandable. But that comes with the understanding that the other QB might play better but is much more likely to play even worse than JG. It sucks but it is what it is right now.
I'm ok with trying someone else, knowing it's likely to be worse, at least in the short term. But I agree with you, it's unrealistic to expect that any of our other QBs are that much better than JG. And it's stupid to think the coaches won't play them if that was true.

well, we've not seen anything, production wise, from anyone behind JG that even comes close to what we saw from Kamara....if for no other reason that makes it different, and not a good comparison.

We haven’t because we’ve barely seen them play. I’m not saying we have a rookie of the year NFL Pro Bowler QB on the bench, but I am saying coaches can be questioned on not being able to fully recognize or utilize talent.

At some point we need to start playing for the future. Vol fans are desperate and will excuse more losses if it appears we’re trying to break in a new QB. If you’re going to lose do it by playing the younger guys so they can gain some experience.

JG has hit his ceiling and if that ceiling is losing at home to Kentucky then it’s time to move on. Bailey, Shrout, or Maurer can lose by 3 TDs to UK too but maybe they’ll learn something and get better.

yeah, and every time either of them have played, they've made you say wow in the same breath they make you say oof....

i don't ever recall saying "oof" when AK was on the field.....that's the difference.

I say oof whenever JG plays. At least play the younger guys who have less oof moments. Maybe they’ll reduce those moments and actually improve. JG is at max level, his XP is capped, he’s not getting any better.

I’m just saying he’s tone deaf. When everyone is saying the same thing maybe it’s time to consider their point of view.

The venerable Butch Jones, worshipped by many, had Kamara on the bench quite a bit. He was questioned for it and it was certainly warranted.
The main difference is Kamara proved he was better. His stats trumped Hurd's by a good bit.

This is being based on things fans and others can't see, but coaches get the opportunity to.

Yea, whatever happened to Chaney saying if we don’t see Chandler ans Grey in the backfield at the same time to check on him he’s had a heart attack or something?!?
I don’t believe we’ve seen that 2 back set once this year?
Chaney was saying one of them would be out there at all times, not both.

While speaking on Monday, Chaney made it clear that he loves Vol running backs Ty Chandler and Eric Gray.

In fact, he loves them so much that he expects at least one of them to be on the field for Tennessee at all times.

And if that doesn’t happen?

Then something has gone terribly wrong.
“You’re going to see Ty and Eric out there all the time. If they’re off the field, I’ve either had a heart attack or something’s happened,” quipped Chaney.

That's fine and I don't even disagree, mostly.

But that has nothing to do with what we were talking about lol

You’re getting too hung up on Kamara. If that’s the case, bad example on my part. I’m just saying coaches are fallible, can overlook talent, and that may be happening here.

I find it kind of alarming how easily the VQ guys dismiss Harrison Bailey. Do they know something?

In the podcast they were talking about how Dabo wasn’t Dabo until he landed Tahj Boyd and how Simpson could be that guy. They said it didn’t have to be Simpson. Might be Salter. Might be someone else down the line. No mention of Bailey.

Only really stuck out because it isn’t the first time they’ve basically glossed over him being on the roster when talking about the future of the QB room.

Yeah I noticed that too. I don't know what to make of it.

VQ Rocky Top Round table made a great point that Arky drops in zone a lot and that we need to force the run game on them. I guess it’s risky but look at what GA did to KY last weekend. A win is a win and this is a big game for this program. Pruitt and Chaney really needs lean on that offensive line they’ve assembled. Let JG take some deep shots to Hyatt every now and then. Just need to run the ball, milk clock, and sneak out with a win. I think the defense will show up to play.

sounds like they'll be willing to give up under routes. we will run but struggle to score.

Keep giving the defense as much of a break as possible.

The more I think about the KY game the more I realize it’s Chaney’s fault for putting JG in those situations. That kid can’t handle being the guy. Let the run game be out focus and get JG to go 14/20 for 150 yards and a TD or two. Hopefully Pruitt realizes that. Maybe it doesn’t work but at least try it for a full game.
