No question, we're fickle as fans. Recruits say they aren't getting enough attention and we want harder working recruiters and assume they'll be just as good coaches/teacher. Players show lack of development and we want better coaches/teachers because if you can't get them ready to play, what does it matter.

So here's my question, do we have a cohesive team or just a bunch of spare parts? Sure seems like JP has a bunch of spare parts that he's trying to manage individually. My take, CJP is a fireman running from truck to truck and ladder to ladder just putting out fires instead of managing. On top of that it also sure seems like CPF is having to do a lot of CJP's "program building" duties for him as well.

Surely Pruitt's contract lays out what his basic responsibilities are. If he's not meeting those, or isn't willing to meet them because he just doesn't want to do that part of the job, then we negotiate a mutual separation not a full buyout because he's not met the threshold of his contract. Pruitt seems like he's caught the car and realized he didn't want it. If true, there ought to be some options here if everyone will be honest and upfront with each other.
i think that's a valid quesiton....

How about this for a 2021 coaching staff?
Offense
Co-OC/OL: Jim Chaney
Co-OC/TE: Chip Long
QB: Joe Osovet
RB: Jay Graham
WR: Tee Martin

Defense
Co-DC/Secondary: Derrick Ansley
Co-DC/DL: Bo Davis
ILB: Lance Thompson
OLB: Tosh Lupoi
ST/Recruiting Coordinator: Brian Neidermeyer

We need a clear identity on offense. Right now we have none. Should have a dominant OL and strong running game, but we're coming out of the shotgun 85% of the time and we can't seem to do anything consistently. Our sets suggest wide open, our plays suggest try not to lose. And let's do all this at tempo even though we're trying to shorten the game and take pressure off our defense.

If I have to put up with Pruitt for another year, I do it with a clear offensive identity one coordinator who has autonomy and a clean slate. Chaney can retire gracefully claiming it's just not the right fit. Replace Friend and Weinke. Agree, make greater use of Long & Osovet but only if you're going to let one of them run the offense. This scenario minimizes recruiting and financial turmoil and sets you up for less of a financial obligation if CJP is gone the next year.

Someone mentioned elsewhere we currently only have 8 bluechip (4*/5*) upperclassmen. Woof
Yeah, im not giving him an excuse, it is year 3, but I’m not surprised that we aren’t a great football team when that is the reality. What I am surprised about is why the younger guys aren’t playing at this point in the season.

When teams regress under the same HC it’s almost always due to lack of talented upperclassmen, either due to recruiting or the draft/transferring. I suspect that’s also the source of the talk from players about “fake leaders”. Probably untalented seniors/juniors trying to play leader when everyone knows they can’t get it done themselves. In my experience it absolutely kills a teams morale especially if they are playing over more talented young guys.

This is the move that no one is talking about. I you don’t (or can’t) get Freeze you could make that move and this staff would be elite on both sides of the ball. Dave Bartoo is an analytics guy that I follow and he has Long as a top tier OC while Chaney is a career bottom tier OC (third worst in the conference rn). Plus Long runs an offense with a reasonable tempo that will play well with CJP. If there is a hope for Pruitt to rebound this is it. Chaney just isn’t good enough even with good QB play. Oh also Pruitt needs to be calling plays on D. He is top 5 in the country at it. Playcalling is an art and it isn’t as simple as running the same system with the same players = the same result.
I agree. We aren’t getting Freeze, we are in this for the long haul with Pruitt. There are corrections he can make. We’ll see if he makes them

Whats the point in shuffling coordinators. You have all seen this before. We just get to sign some more extended contracts that we have to pay for when the guy fails anyway
well...with how we've done in hiring guys in support roles, theres potential to be able to shuffle and it it be a good thing....i do think you have to get to the point where you're having a consistent staff, and we'v enot done that at al the past 5 years....so that hurts in a lot of ways.

but you, still, are where you are and if it's not working, you have to fix it....so we find ourselves doing that...again.

fans get talked about a lot for wanting immediate results and being impatient. i think you could look at how pruitt has managed his staff and say he's equally impatient.....maybe rightfully so? maybe we're right in being impatient with pruitt too, then?

either way...it ain't working....fine line you walk in determining whether to stick and stay and make it pay, or move on to new waters.........usually if you stick and stay, you've at least seen some evidence, even if just a glimmer of hope, that says that could pay off.

i don't know i can say that i see that right now wiht a few of these guys.....sounds like neither does pruitt and/or fulmer.

If HB was given a fair chance to compete and he just got beat out that’s one thing. However, by all accounts the staff never gave him full reps or even attempted to get the QBs ready and if Chaney is out on him already then that’s Chaney being incompetent.

Whatever theyre running right now looks nothing like Chaneys offense. So if pruitts fingers are all over it whats going to change with a new guy
i think we all have come to the conclusion that Pruitt is relatively hands off in terms of hte offense and what we're putting out there right now....rather, he's waist deep on the defensive side of the ball.....

Long’s already on staff...and a proven OC.

me too, but i can't get the freaking 'zero off season' out of my head either. it's why i've kept saying how big a deal it was for us in particular, to not have an off season THIS off season. year 1 to 2 for the rising sophomores...everyone says that year 1 to year 2 is the biggest jump, and our guys didn't get that. and the freshmen...got nothing all together....fall camp was a ish show wiht quarantines etc........and those are the two classes with the MOST talent......we're not an overly talented, veteran team...which is why the covid affect is a little different for us vs. some other programs that do have more veteran, more talented rosters.........

so i'm right there with ya.......i think they need to play more....but, logically, i know why they haven't yet.....from this point forward though....there's really not a reason not to....they've done the extra scrimmages to increase reps, they've getting at least one extra bye week....we've seen what the 'veterans' have done....and we know where we are in terms of what can be accomplished this season.

it's time for plan B....

Yes, at this point we're playing for 2021.
