I think some of the players didn't like him. And failure in games when it mattered.

I just don’t understand why his legend is growing around here

Just as the most popular player on a struggling team is the backup QB, the most popular coach on a struggling coaching staff is an off-field analyst who's been an OC before.

I for some reason believe Chaney would be ok with that scenario as long as he's cashing that check. He would be an instant upgrade over Friend at the OL coaching spot. Jim did a tremendous job in 2009 with that line.
