And if that’s the gameplan Chaney trots out against Auburn? Get Osovet out of the booth and do the Brumbaugh thing.Exactly. I mean, if HB comes out and sucks, the fans are going to be okay with JG trotting back out there. But I can't see how HB can't do at least what JG was doing against Arkansas. How hard is it to hand the ball off and pass 8 times a half?
Uh, you saw that to Hyatt against Bama like 2 weeks agof*** that open up the damn playbook.you know how long it’s been since I’ve seen a beautifully placed 40+ deep ball?..over a year! And HB has far better arm strength!...for 4 years we have been playing behind the sticks.it’s time that changes.no more wheel routes
I was against trading wins to develop players...hardly the case anymore. You limit yourself, you cost yourself wins.It makes too much sense for Pruitt. I won’t feel one bit sorry next year when the fans are relentless to him. If he played Bailey all year, we could have given this year a pass. But nope, he drowned the season doing things his way.
Better without Chaney. A good OC doesn’t give up on a top hs QB without giving him a shot and by all reports they barely gave him reps in practice. Chaneys lack of creativity and scheming is a major concern. How about this for a 2021 coaching staff?
Offense
Co-OC/OL: Jim Chaney
Co-OC/TE: Chip Long
QB: Joe Osovet
RB: Jay Graham
WR: Tee Martin
Defense
Co-DC/Secondary: Derrick Ansley
Co-DC/DL: Bo Davis
ILB: Lance Thompson
OLB: Tosh Lupoi
ST/Recruiting Coordinator: Brian Neidermeyer
i mean it's easy to go back and armchair this now.
but there werne't a lot of people that were shedding tears upon Tracy Rocker's departure. i think everyone agreed, good "coach", but total liability in recruiting, a la Jay Hardy et al.............i.e. there was sound reasoning, that was widely accepted, for making the move. now, we can gripe about who we hired, CJB, especially now knowing how bad a fit it wound up being....but as usual, firing wasn't hte issue....it was the hiring.
Shelton Felton..i think, at best, all you can say is it's TBD, but early returns don't show a ton.....and i think while we all agree Nieds has a place on this staff, w/out Daniel Bituli, the ILB's look a lot different.....so maybe that, too, is at best TBD.....
on offense, i think you can look at Weinke, Friend and Chaney and have legitimage issues with what's been put out there. but i don't see all 3 of those guys getting whacked...
anyway, safe to say, changes are coming again....so we'll see, and it all will go back to TBD status. lol.
This is the move that no one is talking about. I you don’t (or can’t) get Freeze you could make that move and this staff would be elite on both sides of the ball. Dave Bartoo is an analytics guy that I follow and he has Long as a top tier OC while Chaney is a career bottom tier OC (third worst in the conference rn). Plus Long runs an offense with a reasonable tempo that will play well with CJP. If there is a hope for Pruitt to rebound this is it. Chaney just isn’t good enough even with good QB play. Oh also Pruitt needs to be calling plays on D. He is top 5 in the country at it. Playcalling is an art and it isn’t as simple as running the same system with the same players = the same result.I'm really hoping that Chaney is let go and that Long is promoted to OC for next year.
The defensive staff would be great. I don't see us getting all 3 of those coaches. How about this for a 2021 coaching staff?

That's so funny, I had thought about working Hugh Ray into a joke there but left it alone, figured it was too obscure a reference.Or is it Hugh Ray? Didn't he own a club in the old city back in the day? Maybe call Hoo-rays?
