FL fired Zook in his 3rd season to grab Meyer - brilliant move.
FL fired Shark Boy in his 3rd season to get Mullen - looking very smart.
UGA fired Mr. 10-Wins Richt to get the guy they wanted - made NC game already.
BAMA fired Shula after 3 years for Saban.
Matt Luke was kicked to the curb by his Alma Mater because they didn’t want to miss out on Kiffin.

Coaches don’t always get a fair shake. It’s a matter of doing what needs to be done in order get where you want to be. Requirement #1 though - UT has to actually want to be a top football school.

Who you got with a Butch vs. Pruitt showdown? Both have equal teams.
Pre 2016 Butch would drag Pruitt. Don't @ me.

I was hoping for a similar scenario at UT that happened at Miss State last year. Joe wanted out and let his AD know it. They took care of business.

As LA and Hubbs have explained, the school wanted everyone to be on a unified front, and they chose not to. Integrity can be defined as "the state of being whole and undivided." This....they are not. I never said one was a bad person.

It's called self-awareness and understanding the situation. They knew fell well it could/would come out. But they were banking on winning, I guess, and it not being a big deal.
Dude whoopoooooo carrrrreessssss 2 days from now nobody will give af. It’s petty crap put out because our team sucks.. if the school is that concerned about it they shouldn’t have made those contracts. It’s ok. The people were promised to be paid and they’re holding them to it. It’s a non story.

The stated intent of the cuts was to insure that nobody in the AD was laid off. If the guy making 7 figures refuses to take a small short term reduction, and as a result the staffer making $30k gets laid off, not sure how that ever looks good.

Money isn’t a problem for the university they just always bitch about it. They have plenty.

Direct result of hiring a first time head coach who was at the high “schoo” level just a decade prior.

Has no coaching tree to draw from.
In all fairness, who was Fulmer really going to get at the current time that fit that criteria? Could have hired the Pirate, he fits that criteria, not working so well for State. For that fact, Pruitt had a better resume than Freeze when Ole Miss hired him.

In my opinion this year is either hire Freeze or bust. I can’t think of any other names I’d want that are proven winners or realistic. I’d rather keep Pruitt one more year and give him a shot with another QB than fire him and hire anyone but Freeze this year. Freeze is so blatantly obvious and if our university doesn’t see it then they aren’t willing to ever commit to successful program again.
Yep

Freeze or Pruitt and pray or wait to see if someone else is prominent in a year. This is that rare window of opportunity, and we will miss it completely

It's really a horrible look, and I don't say that lightly. Even if Pruitt fired all of his staff this off season, I wouldn't miss any of them.

Had this team won at least the UK and Arky games, this news may not have been as glaring, but when you're a selfish coach on a sh*tty team, it's going to look even worse. How can any of them think they earned their salaries this year?
I think for many they know the writing is on the with regards to their future.

School loses 40 million in lost football revenue, ask everyone to take a small reduction in pay for short duration (rest of this fiscal year).

Only 8 coaches in all of the AD refuse, all 8 are football coaches. It's a bad look, especially when Chaney is the 3rd highest paid AD employee behind only Barnes & Pruitt. Tee & Jay both took reductions, and Phil himself took the biggest % based reduction.

It's sad to think that if the Pruitt situation heads the way we believe and another ho hum coach is hired Fulmer's legacy will fall well short of that belonging to Dave "Hitman" Hart. Freeze can change that quickly.

They signed a contract. They chose not to take a pay cut. No big deal. Doesn’t make them bad people or knock their integrity.

That is debatable. I question the integrity of people that are paid elite money and are ok with being at the bottom statistically. If you were as bad at your job as this staff has been you would have been fired a long time ago. I don't think asking the staff to take a cut with all that has been going on is too much to ask. I guess if a person is trash and they know that they are trash, then bleeding out as much money from an employer as possible is a good strategy.

Does anyone know what other schools are doing with regard to temporary pay cuts of staff? All are losing money, so it would be interesting to know.
