Im so done with these clowns on staff. Doesn’t surprise me who took cuts and who doesn’t. People don’t realize how many people in the UT AD from lowest levels all the way up to fulmer... janitors, cooks, groundskeepers, recruiting, film, all kinds of people that spend sickening amount of hours in that complex away from their families and are at every beck and call of these coaches and for them to do that is a direct slap in the face to every person that works in that building. Fulmer loves Tennessee more than any person in the world and i hope he sends Pruitt ass packing along with Chaney and these other clowns. It doesn’t shock me that tee and jay took cuts Bc they love UT like all of us do.

Sad day man. I’m bothered by it big time.

Well well well..... from your own article..... Bottomline UT has money. Doubt this reserve is all they could scrounge if they had to either. Also here’s a more up to date article on yours.
Tennessee athletics operates at $790K surplus in 2019 fiscal year after cutting severance costs

A 9.5 million reserve is nothing when you are on pace to lose 40 million this year. I said as much in my post above responding to Jake. Basically provided that example.

My link was the same year that you provided revenue in football. That’s why it was relevant.

If you think 9.5 million in reserve right now is sufficient, there’s not much else to discuss. They need big help from donors.

If Vols fire Pruitt and hire Freeze I can promise you that there will be enough money in ticket sales to get Vols finances back in order. Choose to keep Pruitt then they create more of a deficit

I’m good for at least three coach’s polos and I need a new power T flag, if we make the move. That offer is time sensitive though. Fulmer will have to decide how much that’s worth.

I seriously doubt we will be down $40m with not having the expenses of recruiting in person or hosting athletes. That has to be a good size chunk

They announced a $10 million deficit in June, and they were still budgeting Neyland at full capacity. It may not be 40, but it will be very significant.

This is me being a total homer, but this path forward makes more and more sense to me:

HC: Tee Martin
OC: Jim Chaney (mainly because that contract makes him very hard to fire, and he might find himself again without a defensive head coach micro-managing him)
QBs: Anyone with a pulse.
RB: Jay Graham
OL: Tee, Chaney and Phil should be able to come together and make a good hire here.
WR: Find a good recruiter, Tee will have contacts in this area.
TE: Chaney or outside hire.

DC: Ansley (he won't stay so we're looking at outside hire) Kevin Steele will probably be available.
DL: There are a ton of VFL options here. Chief, Brooks, outside hire.
LBs: Probably another outside hire, although Kevin Simon is still on staff.
DBs: Ansley if he stays, otherwise outside hire.

This makes sense to me because, financially, it would save UT from paying buyouts besides Pruitt's. It would also bring stability and be a very seamless transition, something I think the UT AD would prioritize.

I'm not saying I would prefer this route to a "sure thing" like Freeze or Fickell, but I would be more excited about this than trotting Pruitt out there again next season.

If we're writing 5 year blank checks like has been rumored with Pruitt, I'd rather give that opportunity to a VFL and National Championship winner.

Please read what's in bold before you yell at me.

Agree. I think our WRs have improved as a position group. Unfortunately, we haven’t had a QB played who can get them the ball...yet
Wouldn't disagree. I feel like they've been about the same since Butch. They drop very few passes...great at deep catches, even acrobatic ones...BUT not as good at separation

NOW how much of separation is just poor scheme? It feels like our current scheme hardly ever earns us freebies. Look at UF's offense...rub plays, wheels, they are constantly creating "freebie" plays. Other teams use motion or RPOs to cause defensive breakdowns to create freebies. We seem to want NOTHING to do with schematic advantages. Chaney's offense seems to require 100% perfect execution just to reach its moderately high ceiling.

Should be able to fire them for cause over this. Greedy pr*cks

The Rpo game is where it's at these days in cfb. They put alot of pressure on defenses and create mismatches and make defenses play on their heels.

$$$ Didn't stop FSU from firing Taggart. They webt from $20M to $40M in the hole, but if you don't get football right it dont mean much. You are just adding to deficit.

No if you read my article it just showed an example of 2018 and how much money our fan base will spend. It was written in 2020.

Are we Break Even U? If they know what’s good they’ll start trying to win because I can promise you when the fans stop showing up for the mediocre product they put on the field they’ll really wish they had more money. Football is an investment when we are good they make more money. They don’t seem to realize this. That said HUGH FREEZE.

Its simple... Think of Tennessee Football as a business because it is.... Name of the game is make money.. sometimes, you have to spend a little money to make a lot of money..

If you hire Freeze, I guarantee there's 102,455 butts in the seats on opening day, donations will soar through the roof, etc..

If you trot JP out there, will 60k be there?

Make the investment, and let the fans/boosters/whoever reward you for it.

A poster who gets it. Thank you for your service.

I’m talking about a failed SEASON and a coach not waiting to start fixing what was broke. Fired a legendary DC, replaced him with the RB’s coach, switched a RB to CB, made Shazzon Bradley a DT after switching the scheme from 3-4 to a 4-3 AND winning the last 5 games. The next season? 11-1 and the beginning of a winning era. Yeah Majors had won a NC at another school...THAT didn’t repair what was broke.

Majors background was reason to be patient with him versus the next guy. He'd earned it. Pruitt and countless others guys haven't really earned that whether it's within a season or over a longer rebuild.

Signing a top 10 class after being blown out by UK and Arkansas would be a huge win and a miracle
Err Arky beat us by 11...at home...and that's with us wasting 4 possessions with Maurer netting all of 20 yards. Had JG not been injured, Shrout traveled, or maybe HB been qb2, we had a real shot.

I’m with you. I haven’t been this disgusted with UT sports since Schiano Sunday.

Freeze would be a home run hire. He is available and wants to be here and we have a coach that has shown he can’t get it done. Somehow, this will still not end up happening

It’s hard to imagine what it’s like to be a Tennessee fan until you’ve lived it.
Please someone email this to CPF. It really is this simple imo. The finances would be better off...and most importantly WE WILL WIN GAMES. The move pays for itself.

Lol. I get it, and understand. But you just keep saying that they “have money.” In this environment, they won’t have money. But if Fulmer can raise more from big donors and take a gamble on paying big, then I understand it can pay off. Never said otherwise. None of us are truly privy to what the numbers are and what he could raise.

You provided a link to football revenue and fail to understand that the AD has to pay for all other sports.

I bet a good coaching staff could find plenty of talent on this roster, including the QB room.

Agree with this pretty strongly. JG isn’t great, but I’d be willing to bet there are many coaches out there that could at least work with him and be productive. I’d also be willing to bet there are many coaches out there that could have been working with HB throughout this season so far and have some sort of productivity with him right now.

Sadly though, our issues aren’t isolated to the QB room.

That’s their decision, and I bet their even further in the hole this year with the product and pandemic. Will Norvell turn it around? We shall see.

He was in his 12th season. Took him longer than 3 to be legit. Patience or no, if he hadn’t turned it around instantaneously he’d have been gone sooner.
