In today's game either you have a QB or you don't. We don't. I keep thinking that Cheney just did not forget how to call offense and coach QBs overnight. Now maybe Pruitt is micromanaging him, but he can only do so much with JG. Now I am pretty sure they knew all this last year what JG was, so I do fault Pruitt for not trying better to get a transfer in but it looks like they put all their eggs in the JT Daniels, and perhaps COVID impacted the ability to get transfers. Not holding on to Penix was a blunder though. I am assuming Helton wanted him and Pruitt wanted a pocket passer at the time??? However hindsight was 20/20 and Pruitt probably figured JG was "fixable". I am saying all this to just say we have to wait and see what Pruitt does with HB the rest of the way and what this offense looks like with HB having a full (semi-normal) offseason before we can say Pruitt has to be fired. Now if this team goes out loses to Vandy, all bets are off. Looking forward, our schedule next year has 3 winnable OOC games, so if we finish 5-7 next year (barring major injuries) then cut Pruitt and the rest of the staff a check.
This is a good point and I’ll take it one step further.

You can’t even compete in today’s college football without a QB. You used to be able to get by with a game manager, not anymore. If your Offense can’t score, you’re screwed.

I’m not saying this to make myself feel better or condone our record but Kentucky and Arkansas aren’t horrible football teams. Both have coaches that know how to get the most out of what they have.

Our coaches are not taking pay cuts

“Tee Martin and running backs coachJay Graham were reportedly the only coaches to agree to the pay cuts. Head Coach Jeremy Pruitt was not asked to take a pay cut because he declined a pay raise for 2020 in a contract extension in September. Phillip Fulmer announced he would take a 15 percent pay cut starting on Nov. 1.“

so yes they are.
The other Tennessee sports have taken cuts also.
