It is completely BAFFLING so many people are misled about this. People forget UFS LOOOONG dicking around period trying to flirt with Kelly and Frost. Currie had talked to Mullen way before anyone at UF contacted him, dude I'm wasn't going to just wait around. Remember there were hard feelings from after Muschamp was fired that Mullen was given stronger consideration.

Yes, it ain't rocket science that Mullen would of chosen UF over UT 10/10 times. Obviously. But Mullen was ready to take the UT job and not risk UF dissing him again. It's that simple folks. I know it's easier to say "eh he was never coming here to begin with. " And I know it's infuriating to realize we never offered him when we needed to. By all means, there probably was an offer but it was when UF was in play with him. So there wasn't a shot then. But if Currie hadn't had Schiano up his sleeve and had offered Mullen right away, Mullen would be at UT. Unless one of those weird occurrences occured where we hired him and UF hired him away right after. I doubt that would of happened though if we are being real.

I’m not sure how anyone knows this or can pass the timeline as facts.

McElwain was fired on October 29. Butch Jones was fired on November 12. UF had two extra weeks and a more competent AD. You don’t have to formally talk to coaches these days. Use back channels, and UF knows if Kelly or Frost want the job. Heck, Frost was hired before his last game at UCF, and it wasn’t a secret.

Also, Scott Stricklen, the AD at UF was previously at MSU, so the relationship was already there. They didn’t even need an interview. Make one call and it’s done.

All I know is Bahama John was watching basketball calm and cool, and it looked like he had done his work. Then we find out he’s trying to trot out Schiano.

So, could UT really be considering this?

Bobo at OC/QB
Jay at RB
Tee at WR
(Who is SC's OL coach?)
Osovet at TE
Rocker at DL
Felton at LB
T. Robinson at DB
Muschamp at DC
Neidemeyer at Special Teams (or split linebacking duties with him and Felton and make another position coach the Sp teams coach)

So we’re just gonna merge what has looked like two incompetent coaching staffs into one big shi**y coaching staff?

No thanks.

I just read on their board that Shane Beamer is likely frontrunner LOL

But it’s a message board so nobody knows anything
I really wouldn't doubt it. They are barely above .500 all time and are light years behind their in state rival. They arent going to pull a big name. They always end up with a retread.

IF Muschamp is fired, then it’s going to be Napier or Beamer type to follow him. They might pull a Mizzou and go after Will Healy after a year at Charlotte.

Freeze can do a lot better than South Carolina (and I’m not saying he’s coming to TN even if there is an opening).

When the Vols are winning, UT recruits itself. In-state talent is not the be all-end all it’s made out to be.
Historically no, but that is trending in a different direction. We do not do a good job of getting the best in state and that's a problem.

Exactly. Mullen was third of UFs list. If Mullen had been first on UTs, he would of been here, simple as that. But Currie is a dumbass that though Schiano was a major hire lol
Well, I remember the story was, Currie could have locked up Mullen earlier, but waited too long. Florida found a convenient story to fire Sharkboy for cause. Florida was turned down by Kelly and Frost. They fired McElwain at end of Oct. Jones was canned 2 weeks later. This Florida has a two week start (time for Frost and Kelly to turn them down). Currie had Mullen as #1 choice, but when he ghosted Curry after final game of season. Currie fell back on his insurance policy hire, Schiano.

After Prince died, I read up a little on him and that entire skit which was already hilarious became ever more hilarious. Apparently, Prince really was super-competitive and he was actually a damn good basketball player despite being vertically challenged. Prince was the type of guy that even if the game was tiddly-winks he wanted to beat your @ss at it, lol. He took no prisoners when anything was remotely competitive..

At this point, HB, Salter, or transfer QB (AV rumored?) just needs to be Casey Clausen level.

Casey Clausen and a prime Fulmer type defense.

Our defense is just not that good rn. Offensive scheme is bad. QB development nonexistent. OL is underperforming their talent level. Defense can't defend a slant. Anyone thinking we are "a qb away" might be disappointed.

At this point I'm skeptical that we "just need more talent" when we can't develop what we have. Even the best talent has to be developed.

Offered the job to Mullen but had Schiano lined up knowing like most that Mullen was 3rd in line at Florida and was waiting.

If South Carolina has indeed fired Muschamp it will be interesting to see what they can pay the next coach. People were calling for Muschamp to be gone after they lost to us the 1st week, but most media said it was unfeasible because of how much he was owed (more than we owe Pruitt apparently). They also have a lot of assistants on multi year deals like Bobo, Robinson, and McClendon.

I bet McClendon will end up here. Pruitt has been after him in the past.
