Recruiting Forum Football Talk II

Sure it wasn’t Nick or BJ? That was his second musical chairs QB fiasco...and second losing season as a result.

That's probably right. I think he played most of the snaps against Auburn, then got benched against USCjr. Fulmer was fired after that. Still...

Recruiting is the lifeblood of this program, that's indisputably true, but I'm of the mind that any coach can regularly land Top 15 classes here and for that reason I don't make a part of my calculation for what I want in the next head coach.
Both Dooley and Butch disproved that towards the end of their stints. Dooley was beating out William and Mary for some commits. Butch had a top 5 class lined up for 2017, but that was doomed by the UMass game. Pruitt salvaged that one out of the 60’s. There was a time that UT sold itself, but that ended about the same time as the Recruiting sites started issuing star ratings. We have it easier than some others, but the kids need to believe in what’s happening to sign up.

The mind-boggling thing to me is that the depth chart has barely changed all year. This starting lineup, on both sides of the ball, has not gotten the job done yet no one else gets a chance to start?

The only non-injury changes have been between Banks and Crouch at ILB. Other than that the only “open” spot is Star and that’s only because Sham apparently doesn’t study much.

I think, had Butch been retained, that his final class would have ended up higher than where Pruitt got it.

Now, I wouldn't argue it would have been a *better* class, because Butch was recruiting some star heavy but hollow classes, but I think he would have turned it around.

SIAP but this was just discussed on Basilio and I’m a few pages behind. Apparently a USCe mod somewhere said that they aren’t getting Freeze because he’s holding out for Auburn or Tennessee.

If true and he is not waiting on TN, Randy Boyd or someone needs to step in on Fulmer ASAP.

basically just slamming Pruitt and Chaney.

Bringing up even though we have barely played the past few weeks, they feel worse about the state of the program due to the way our opponents have played each other.

Said at the very least, they have to go another direction with OC next year for Salter coming in. If we lose to Vandy, all bets are off on Pruitt getting canned.

I honestly think Fulmer is intentionally using the media and especially Hubbs to push his true agenda. In public, he’s 100% behind Pruitt, but I think behind the scenes he knows he’s done and won’t get us where we need to be. I think he’s trying make it so toxic that Pruitt decides to leave on his own for a negotiated buyout. Everyone wins with this scenario...Pruitt can go back to Bama, we don’t have to pay 13 million to send him back there, and we get a proven coach (hopefully Freeze).

Like your way of thinking. We shall see.

take away the cupcakes the last couple of years and it would probably be even worse.

Not really

SEC stats only

Offense:
2018- 20.25 pts per game
2019-22.24 pts per game
2020- 20.67 pts per game

defense-
2018- 36.75 pts per game
2019- 24.5 pts per game
2020- 31.5 pts per game

so while this year is a step backward from last year the offense and defense is performing better on the scoreboard than in Pruitts first year

But its a pretty severe regression from year 2. Which isn't good.

I feel like I'm in the minority, but the Freeze speculation talk is annoying to me. I don't see it happening, certainly not this year. Next year a poor record should result in a change, and Fulmer would be forced to make a change. But COVID year 2020, nope not happening. Don't even like to entertain the thought of a change.
You're missing out on the most fun this football team will give us all year! Hop on the #FreezeTrain
